2022 is almost at an end and there are a few big matches on the horizon.
So, your boy...THE LEO figured I'd drop another list.
And how appropriate a list it is!
Zybala will enter 2023 as the OCW Champion or he'll enter 2023 retired.
Nobody knows for sure how it's going to play out.
But what we do know is that Mike is one of the greatest wrestlers in company history to NEVER win the OCW Championship.
Is he great enough to make my list? Let's find out!
5) CJ O'Donnell
The fact CJ has never won a singles title is, honestly, quite shocking. He was a founding member of OCW's greatest faction, Aptitude. He's been in the middle of some of the most impactful angles and feuds in company history. He's a name EVERYBODY in the wrestling industry is familiar with. He's CJ O'Donnell! And, yet, he's never won a singles title in OCW...let alone the OCW Championship. CJ is currently missing in action from OCW...will he return? And, if so, can he remove his name from this list?
4) Ed Houston
THE ROCKETMAN! It looked like Ed was set to BLAST OFF earlier this year and reach the main event. Sadly, that did not happen. Ed's one of the most popular wrestlers in company history. He's won multiple singles titles and been right on the cusp of breaking through...unfortunately, it just hasn't happened. Like CJ, Ed is currently missing from action in OCW. But I'm told he's just a phone call away. Will Ed return and finally break through?
3) Jack Sullivan
An older name, for sure. But, an older name that, suddenly, feels relevant once again. His daughter, born of the same name, is currently on the OCW roster and competing sporadically for the company. She's got the talent and determination that made her father a star. Can she win the OCW Championship that always eluded the senior Sullivan? We'll have to see what 2023 holds.
2) Mike Zybala
And you thought he was gonna be #1...c'mon. There's only one wrestler worthy of that spot! But, we'll get to him in a minute. Zybala is a staunch #2. He's just about done it all. And while he may not be the 'backbone' of OCW...he's certainly its soul. Mike has one final shot to remove his name from this list and that comes THIS Saturday against PIC and Bifford. Can he do it? Be sure to tune in and find out!
1) Mario Maurako
If you know your OCW history then you know this one is and has always been a given. Poor Maurako. Forced to watch his teammate, Paul Paras win the OCW Title (twice). Forced to watch his best friend, Silver Cyanide win the OCW Title (twice). Mario just hasn't been able to get it done. He's had opportunities, for sure. But whatever it takes to get to the top seems to be lacking within Maurako's DNA. He's PROUD AND STRONG OCW through and through. One of the most influential members in company history. Rumor has it this company is cursed to continue operating until Mario finally claims what his hard work has more than earned. But, has time (and health) passed him by? If the returns of PIC and Killa Kali in 2022 taught us anything it's that you can't count these vets out. Here's hoping Mario gets one more run and finally, once and for all, gets his name off this disappointing list.
And, there ya go...the five biggest names to never hold the OCW Title. And, there are a few honorable mentions like Dylan Thomas, Duce Jones, BRIM, and Mark Kelley.
With a new crop of stars like Crash Rodriguez, Ball Ball, Moonlight Rose, Thunder Knuckles, Harmon Egan, Sahara, and Nickleman (among others) set to steal the 'show' in 2023...the time to snatch that elusive OCW Title is now.
Hope you all have a tremendous end to 2022 and great things await you all in 2023! For the rest of the year...this is LEO signing off. See you guys on the flip side.
