Christmas is a few weeks away and everyone is scrambling to find gifts for their family and friends. Jacki O'Lantern decided she would take a trip to her local mall to find her remaining gifts, so there she stood around at the main entrance, trying to decide which store she would hit up first. She was in her trademark face paint, so the group of people walking by would obviously stare, but it never really bothered her. Instead, her reaction was to wave back and wish them a Merry Christmas.
She starts walking, glancing at all the stores she passed by. There were so many options. As she contemplated that, she had an idea. She thought about her opponent and the idea of giving him a gift this year, regardless of the feelings he may have towards her.
IT'S THE SEASON OF GIVING AFTER ALL…
After searching and searching, she spotted a Sur La Table store. It sold dining supplies and home decor. She gets a cheesy grin on her face, walks in and browses around. After doing research she came to find that he is a hardcore individual much like herself, so she looks at a few pans and places some in her cart followed by a few cheese graters and a baking sheet, then went to pay for her stuff. She leaves the store with a smile on her face, content with the items she bought.
She throws the bags over her shoulders and continues walking. She hears Christmas music playing in the background and starts humming along to it. From a distance she spots a line to see Santa Claus, because let's face it you are never too old to visit the big man, so she heads towards there and gets in the rather big line. A kid in front of her turns around and looks at her with curiosity.
Kid: “Aren't you too old to be seeing Santa, lady?”
Jacki: “Bud, we are never too old to see Santa.”
Kid: “If you say so. What's your name, and why are you dressed like that? Halloween is over.”
She chuckles and smiles, rubbing the top of the kid's head. She liked children. In fact, eighty percent of her fan base was children, so she was used to questions like this, especially from those who were not familiar with her.
Jacki: “Jacki by the way. I love Halloween. It's every day for me. There is no rule stating otherwise. If you want to celebrate Christmas every day, you should.”
He nods his head and the line starts moving, but his attention was still on her.
Kid: “Good point. I've always liked Christmas. It's fun and I always get a lot of presents under the tree. What will you ask Santa to bring you this year?”
She contemplated the question, not really sure what she wanted, so she gave him a generic answer.
Jacki: “Maybe some more pumpkin leggings and masks. You could never have too many of those.”
Kid: “I have some Spider-Man masks at home. You should come by my house, and I'll show you.”
Jacki: “I'll do you one better, but one quick question, do you like wrestling?”
Kid: “Yes, it's the best thing ever! I want to be one when I grow up.”
Jacki's heart melted a little hearing that response. She remembered thinking the same thing as a kid, so she pulles out three tickets from her pocket and handed it to him. He looked down at what it was. His mouth opened wide in disbelief, but eventually he took it.
Jacki: “I happen to be a wrestler. This is three tickets for you and your parents to the upcoming OCW wrestling show. You can wear your mask then, and I'll sign it for you. Bonus, you have an open invitation to join my Lantern Army if you'd like. Do we got a deal?”
Kid: “Lantern Army?”
Jacki: “It's a fan base. Anyone can join it, to be honest. This fan base has friendly cats in it, and you can pet them too.”
As soon as she told him that, his eyes lit up like a Christmas tree as Jacki watched on.
Kid: “Oooh all that sounds amazing. You got a deal, lady.”
Jacki: “Awesome. By the way, Santa is waiting for you. Have fun and see you at the show.”
He laughs and turns around, then runs up to Santa and sits on his lap. She watches the kid having a conversation with him and the excitement he expressed. Not to mention, she was pretty happy with her own gift she gave to him. It was a good day after all. “NEXT!” A random woman yells out as she is deep in thought. It was her turn, so she walks up to him. Instead of taking a seat on his lap, she opted to stand next to him.
Jacki: “Hey man, just wanted to say you are doing a great job making all these little boys and girls happy.”
Santa Claus: “Ho ho ho, of course. I love seeing the smiles on their faces.”
Jacki: “Keep it up. Might I add, you look in great shape. What's your fitness regime look like these days?”
He gave his belly a good rub while he laughs.
Santa Claus: “It must be from going up and down those hundreds of chimneys.”
Jacki laughs and pats his back, looking at the big line of hopeful kids, which is probably her cue to leave.
Jacki: “Well hey, I enjoyed this chat, but looks like you got more smiles to make. Take care, Santa and Merry Christmas.”
Santa Claus: “I didn't catch your name.”
Jacki: “Jacki O'Lantern.”
Santa Claus: “Merry Christmas to you to Miss O'Lantern.”
Before she leaves she reaches into her pocket, and pulls out one more ticket, then say fuck it, and hands it to him as she walks off, bags still in her hands. Eventually, she would leave the mall a happy pumpkin with her good deeds she handed out today.
“Wrestling as a whole is like a revolving door, but unfortunately for me, the last company I was involved with closed its doors for good. I made a lot of memories during my stay there and while I'll miss walking through those doors every week, those memories will never be erased. The wheels will keep turning, and it led me to finding OCW. Buds, I admit, and maybe it's just me being my worst critic, but I never considered myself to be a big name in this business.”
“Sure I work hard in the ring, but I wouldn't consider my name to draw attention, so the fact that I was welcomed in a new company, especially one with a long history I may add, I consider that an honor.”
“Now that I found a new home to practice my craft, I am excited. It gives me the chance to prove myself, which is why I decided to do an open challenge, and Leviathan is the first contender to step up to me. During my two years of wrestling I've never heard the name, but I've done my homework on you, bud, and one look at you and anyone would get intimidated. You live up to the meaning of your name, a monster.”
“I can't relate with you on, but this five foot three, pumpkin freak who has a heart of determination that simply can't be unmatched, so while I may come off kind and bear gifts to you, don't use that as a sign of weakness. My "unusual" look is always the first thing people notice, but when that bell rings, my actions will be your main concern. You will be the first to witness this come Massacre. I will show no signs of fear, or backing down. Go ahead, bring all your obstacles to use against me. Hell, life itself is one giant obstacle, but I have gotten through it, and this match will not be an exception, my dude.”
“We are both using this match as a platform to get our feet off the ground, seeing as how it's a double debut. All eyes will be on us, and you know damn well the people in charge will be taking notes on us to see if we have what it takes to thrive under pressure. I don't know your history, but I've experienced what it's like to be at the top and while I enjoyed my position up there, I didn't allow it to change who I am.”
“That being said, I'm not going to use my past success as a reason why I should be in line for any titles. My place is at the bottom, and eventually I will experience what it's like to take my place at the top again, but until then forget about the Halloween you once knew as a kid on Massacre, Levi. This one will be different and will remain a permanent memory in your head with a girl in pumpkin makeup attached to it along with her hand raised to end the night.”
She starts walking, glancing at all the stores she passed by. There were so many options. As she contemplated that, she had an idea. She thought about her opponent and the idea of giving him a gift this year, regardless of the feelings he may have towards her.
