The first people Axis saw when he exited the building were Miriam and Lexi.
"Hey, James!" Miriam said as she surrounded her husband in a hug.
"Hey, Miriam. Y'all enjoy the show?"
"Yeah!" Lexi said. "I loved the main event!"
"What about my match?"
"No, because you didn't win." Classic Lexi.
Axis had just dropped a wrestling match to Moonlight Rose, but for the first time in his life, he didn't care. And why should he? In 6 days, he would be in the fight of his life. The Rumble in the Bronx was more than a match. It was more than a pay-per-view. In the eyes of the OCW newcomer, the Rumble represented his future.
Miriam disrupted his thoughts. "Hey, you want to go get some McDonalds? Lexi wanted a burger."
He thought about it. "The Rumble's in six days. I'd rather get some steak."
"Are you sure?" Miriam asked, but she was interrupted by Lexi chanting the word steak. She laughed. "I don't see why not."
And so, the threesome ate dinner at Gallaghers Steakhouse, feasting on medium-rare meat and fries. There was little conversation throughout the meal, however, in a first for the Prowler family. Usually, Axis enjoyed telling tales from the locker room, as well as hearing Miriam talk about events at the stables they board their horses at and relaying updates from her cousin, who was tending to the ranch animals while the family was away.
Tonight, though, Axis was busy. He was researching his opponents as each one announced on social media their intent to participate in the Rumble. His goal was to learn their moves so he could best calculate his plan to dodge each.
Miriam tapped Axis on the shoulder and said, "Listen, if you want a shot at winning this thing, you need my help. Let me come backstage with you."
Axis spat out his Diet Dr. Pepper. "Are you insane!? You'll get yourself hurt, or worse! People have literally died in the ring before!"
"I don't care. And besides, I know way more wrestling than you do."
Axis knew she was right. She had been a fan since before EAW had even started doing shows. "Fine. But you need to bring someone with you."
Miriam smiled. "I know just the person."

"Hey, daddy! You got a call!" Lexi said as she handed Miriam's phone to Axis.
He put the phone to his ear. "Hello?"
"Hey." It was Axis's father, the legendary manager Laine Lethal!
"Hey, dad. How's it goin'?"
Laine smiled on the other end of the line. "I'm coming to NYC, of course. My plane is supposed to land tonight."
"Really?"
"Yep. Miriam gave me the call to come up there from San Francisco. I was supposed to fly out there this morning, but my flight got cancelled," Laine explained. "Stupid weather," he added.
Axis was ecstatic. "Wow, dad, this is great! With you and Miriam both keeping me in the ring-"
"Oh, and can Lexi be there, too? I would love nothing more than to spend time with my grandchild."
"I'll check with her," Axis said. As they said their goodbyes and ended the call, he turned to Lexi. "Wanna come help me beat up a bunch of dudes?"
Lexi smiled. "Can we bring Leo? Or Reagan?"
"Maybe."
"Then there's my answer. Maybe."
Miriam came out from behind the dressing area. "How do I look?" She was wearing the attire that she planned to wear on Sunday. A green bra with blue underwear, her favorite colors.
Axis smiled. "You look beautiful, honey. Now we just need a ring name for you."
She began brainstorming ring names- Charlene, Ly Baker, Starlight- but none of them fit her personality.
Then Lexi chimed in. "What about Mira?"
"I like it."
"I'm happy if you're happy, honey," Axis said, still grinning.

This wasn't the first time I came up short.
At WrestleVerse's first PPV ever, I went toe to toe with CruZe, a seasoned veteran that had steel legs. No, really.
We had a hard fought battle. Then, after kicking out of a Yakuza Kick, I stood up... and immediately got hit with another from mid air. Yeah, that hurt.
That loss also taught me a bit on how to be humble. But that lesson will be out the window on Sunday.
With my determination and rumble experience, a bit of luck, and a little backup, I will be getting that shot by winning Rumble in the Bronx.
The wrangler's not the only one anymore... say hello to his little friends.
