7 Years Earlier
PerZag: “Finally, Don. We are finally detectives. Our first day as detectives. We have worked our way to this. Can’t believe we are finally here.”
Don: “It is great isn’t it. We have finally made it to where we wanted. Through our whole lives we have wanted to get to this point. Let us make it last a while.”
PerZag: “We shall. We shall. This will last us a good while.”
Don: “How is your family going... You know regarding?”
PerZag: “They are going fine. I mean with all that has happened. At least we put him away for what he did. I mean he killed my brother, he killed him right in front of me. He sliced him in half.”
Don: “No need to talk about it. It was the worst thing I have ever heard of. Thank God the guy was thrown in jail.”
PerZag: “Yeah. At least he didn’t get to kill my parents. They were next. He was hunting down my family.”
Don: “Why was he doing that?”
PerZag: “He was ‘getting back’ at me for something he thought I did.”
Don: “What was he ‘getting back’ at you for.”
PerZag: “His name is Simon Guiong. I was friends with his sister Paula, and one day I was driving with her and a couple of my other friends in a car. I was driving and a truck pulled out of a street on to the road I was on and I hit it. Paula died instantly, my other friends were injured severely, but I got out of the car with a concussion and that was it. He blamed me for what happened to her, but that was after the driver of the truck had died. He was killed the exact same way as my brother. He just snapped.”
Don: “People do that these days. Something happens and they snap. Blame whoever was there.”
(A phone starts ringing in the background as a detective picks it up. PerZag and Don turn their attention towards the call. The detective hangs up the phone and looks at them.)
Unnamed Detective: “There has been a murder. It is one of our own.”
(Scene blacks out)
(Scene opens up as you see PerZag and Don looking at the ground at a dead body.)
Don: “Who is it Steve?
Steve: “His name is Sebastian Murkoff. He is a security officer at the prison here in Banalla.”
PerZag: “The cause of death.”
Steve: “The cause of death is a shot to the head. From the lack of blood around the area, he was not killed here. He was shot somewhere else and brought here afterwards.”
Don: “What about the scars on his face?”
(The face of Sebastian Murkoff is shown in view with scars in shapes of skulls on his face.)
Steve: “That is interesting. It was burned into his face, but it was done a few hours before your victim had died. Your victim was tortured before he was shot.”
Don: “I would of hated to be him.”
PerZag: “Approximately what time did he die.”
Steve: “I will have to take him back to the precinct to minimise the time of death, but approximately he died between 11am and 1pm.”
Don: “Any idea of where he died.”
Steve: “There is sand in his pocket, so if he died it would be somewhere containing sand.”
(PerZag and Don stared at the body, when a police officer runs towards them screaming)
Police Officer: “There is another. Another body. Another one of our own.”
PerZag: “Who was it?”
Police Officer: “His name is Terry Gerard. He was a security officer at the same prison as Sebastian here. He died the exact same way, even the scars.”
Don: “Do you have any idea where he died.”
Police Officer: “He did not die where we found him, but we did find sand in his pocket.”
PerZag: “Bloody hell. Whoever this is, he is playing us. He is covering his tracks.”
(Scene fades to black)
(The scene opens up as PerZag and Don are sitting at their desks at the precinct. Don is typing away at the computer whist PerZag is on his phone. PerZag hangs up the phone and looks over towards Don.)
PerZag: “That was Steve. He shortened the time of death to between 11:30am to 12pm.”
Don: “OK. So the killer would have tortured them at around 8pm. The body was not found until 7am this morning. That means that the killer must have enjoyed this a lot, or there are more victims. Why would it take him a good 7 hours before moving the body? There could have been more.”
PerZag: “That could mean that there is a matter of time until the next body being found. Have you checked the prison that they were working at.”
Don: “Yeah. The only thing is that Trevor Karnish escaped recently.”
PerZag: “You mean the man who killed the two police officers that got him put into jail.”
Don: “Yes, that is him. I think that it is a good bet that he is the one who killed Sebastian and Terry. I have looked up on him and he has a sister Naomi living near the beach.”
PerZag: “Well, I think that that is a good place to check. We should go there in the morning.”
Don: “That would be best. Also I checked the financial records of Sebastian and Terry, and both men received 50 grand recently. The account that it is from has had all its money taken out, and has been taken down completely with no trace whatsoever.”
PerZag: “That could mean that either Sebastian and Terry had won some kind of raffle...”
Don: “Or they are the ones who helped Trevor Karnish escape.”
PerZag: “Which gives us a connection to their death.”
Don: “That was what I was thinking. We should probably get to Naomi’s place now.”
PerZag: “OK. We should get going.”
(Scene fades to black)
(Scene opens up as Don and PerZag are approaching a beach house. They walk up the steps towards the door and Don pounds on it. The door opens up as a mid-aged woman comes into view.)
Don: “Naomi Karnish.”
Naomi: “Yes.”
PerZag: “We are detectives Don Parish and...”
Naomi: “Oh no. What has happened to Trevor?”
Don: “Nothing has happened. He escaped from prison last week.”
Naomi: “What do you mean he escaped? How did he get out?”
PerZag: “Well, we believe that he had help from some security officers at the prison. Both of the Officers are dead, and we believe your brother had something to do with it.”
Naomi: “Oh God.”
(Naomi turns around and walks down the hall to the kitchen. Don and PerZag follow her through. Naomi sits down on one side of a table whilst Don and PerZag sit on the other side. Don is looking right at Naomi, whilst PerZag is looking around the house.)
Don: “Have you heard from your brother recently?”
Naomi: “No. Not for about three months when I visited him at the prison.”
(Don stands up from the kitchen table and walks to the window which has a view of the beach. He stands there for a good few seconds and turns around and walks back to the table.)
PerZag: “Do you know where he may be?”
Naomi: “I am sorry. I do not know.”
PerZag: “That is OK. We will be on our way then.”
(PerZag stands up and he and Don walk towards the front door. They step through it and walk down the steps as Naomi shuts the door behind them. Don turns around as PerZag continues walking towards the car.)
PerZag: “What is it Don?”
Don: “I don’t believe her. Follow me.”
PerZag: “OK. What now?
(Don walks around the side of the house with PerZag right behind him. They continue on, but stop at a window. PerZag starts to talk, but Don tells him to be quiet. You can hear a phone being dialed as Naomi starts talking.)
Naomi: “Trevor it is me. The police were here. They nearly caught onto us. You should probably get out of there now.”
PerZag: “I guess she is not as truthful as we thought.”
Don: “Thought so.”
(PerZag and Don circle back to the front of the house and Don kicks the door open. Naomi screams as Don puts here up against the wall and handcuffs her. PerZag quickly gets on his phone and dials a number.)
Don: “Where is Trevor?”
Naomi: “I don’t know.”
PerZag: “We need officers down to Naomi Karnish’s place now. Possible hostile.”
Don: “We heard you talking to him on the phone. Where is Trevor?”
(PerZag walks up to Don, and pushes him back from Naomi.)
PerZag: “Naomi. Where’s Trevor?”
(Naomi puts her head down and starts to cry. PerZag backs away from her and walks down the hall.)
Don: “Where is Trevor?”
Trevor: “I am right here.”
(Don turns around and is knocked flat out. PerZag turns around and sees Don fall to the ground. PerZag pulls his gun out of its holster.)
Trevor: “Oh, no you don’t. Put the gun down.”
(Trevor is pointing a gun right at PerZag. PerZag slowly puts the gun to the ground. Trevor approaches him and hits him in the head with a bat, and PerZag goes down.)
(Scene fades to black)
(Scene opens up to PerZag and Don chained up in a dark room. Trevor is seen torturing Don with a fire poker. PerZag opens his eyes and sees what is happening.)
Trevor: “Yes. He is awake. Now it is his turn.”
(Trevor walks up to PerZag with the fire poker.)
Trevor: “You see this. This is no ordinary fire poker. As you see the tip is in a shape of a skull. This means that when it touches your skin a skull will form into place. Now let us test it on you.”
(Trevor raises the fire poker and places it against PerZag’s forehead. PerZag screams out in pain.)
Don: “Trevor. There is no need to do this.”
Trevor: “But there is. I find this fun.”
(Trevor removes the fire poker and places it on PerZag’s right cheek. PerZag screams out in more pain.)
Don: “Trevor stop this.”
Trevor: “I cannot. This is just fantastic.”
(Trevor removes the fire poker and places it on PerZag’s left cheek. PerZag screams then passes out.)
Trevor: “Oh, you passed out on me. This should wake you up.”
(Trevor again removes the fire poker from PerZag’s cheek and places it on his cheek. PerZag wakes up and is screaming in pain.)
Don: “Trevor stop this. The police is going to be here soon, and you are going to go away for longer than you originally were.”
Trevor: “So the police is coming are they. Well it looks like my plan is going to go a bit quicker.”
(Trevor walks over into the darkness. He slowly comes back out with Naomi strapped up in a wheelchair. He pulls out a gun and points it at Naomi.)
Trevor: “I am sorry sister. This is just the way it has to be.”
(Trevor shoots Naomi in the side of the head. Her head drops down, and Trevor laughs.)
Don: “You are sick, Trevor. Why would you do that to your own god damn sister.”
Trevor: “She knows too much. So I made a little arrangement. I am going to shoot both of you, and then place the gun in her hand and unstrap her. She will be blamed, and I will go free.”
Don: “You are truly sick. There is no way you would get away with this.”
Trevor: “Oh, I certainly will.”
(Trevor walks over to Don.)
Trevor: “And I will start with you.”
(Trevor lifts up the gun and points it at Don’s head.)
PerZag: “Don’t do it, Trevor. Don’t do it."
Don: “It’s alright. It’s alright.”
(Trevor pulls the trigger, and Don drops.)
PerZag: “You fucking bastard. You fucking cunt.”
Trevor: “Yes, let the anger out.”
(The door is kicked down as police officers storm into the room. Trevor quickly runs to PerZag and raises his gun, but is shot by a police officer. Trevor drops down raises his gun and shoots a police officer that was running into the room. Another police officer shoots Trevor, and Trevor drops down. The police officers untie PerZag, PerZag gets up and grabs a gun walks up to Trevor who is squirming along the ground.)
Trevor: “That’s right. Kill me. Kill Me.”
(PerZag raised his gun and pulls the trigger.)
PerZag: “That’s for Don.”
7 Years Later
PerZag: “I saw you die Don. I saw you die.”
Don: “I am very much alive, mate.”
PerZag: “How?
Don: “Well, when I was young I fractured my skull, and had a steel plate put in. The steel plate is what stopped the bullet.
"
PerZag: “Why didn’t you contact me?”
Don: “I thought that it would be best that you did not know that I was alive.”
PerZag: “Diana. What is it about Don that got our parents killed.”
Diana: “It’s not anything to do with Don. It is just..."
(A phone starts ringing. PerZag reaches into his pocket.)
PerZag: “Sorry, I have to grab this.”
(PerZag steps into the bathroom and talks into his phone.)
PerZag: “I have a match for Monday Night Massacre.”
(PerZag listens into the phone.)
PerZag: “A Triple Threat match. Against who?”
(The man on the other line starts talking.)
PerZag: “Against Samson. Who the hell is Samson. Is he some kind of God or is he some kind of massive taco. Who is my other opponent?”
(PerZag listens into the phone.)
PerZag: “Trent Collins. You mean the man who lasted like 5 seconds in the Rookies Night Out Match, and last week he and James Carson got decimated in the ring. He is terrible. So, I am in a match with some new guy, and someone who cannot do anything within the ring. Screw this. Hopefully with this win, I will then get a bigger match.”
(PerZag hangs up the phone, and heads back out into the dining room.)
PerZag: “Sorry about that.”
Don: “Is that to do with your new career. Don’t worry I have been watching.”
PerZag: “OK, so what were you saying Diana.”
Diana: “I was saying that it is not to do with Don, it is Simon Guiong. He escaped prison and killed our parents.”
PerZag: “How do you know this?”
Diana: “Because Don does. That is why he is here. He is going to be able to help us avenge them.”
PerZag: “What about Roy?
Diana: “Roy does not know anything. There is no point in telling him anyhow. No one even knows where he is, he could be anywhere. We have to deal with this.”
PerZag: “You mean we have to go back to Banalla, and hunt down Simon.”
Don: “No. He is coming here. If he had seen you on OCW, then he knows precisely where you will be. He is coming to find you here.”
