( Like an idiot, I posted this on my other account first. So let's try this again....)
April 9, Jersey, 1:30 PM -
It had been a middle of her week off. Melissa had flown all the way to New Jersey just to meet up with a couple of her friends. She wasn't set up for any action and decided that time was better spent with friends. It had been rather relaxing. Well, it had been.
The contacts in her eyes gave off a soft red hue, those auburn locks curled around her face in beautiful waves while she maintained her stare off. There he was. Joel Roy. The man that single-handed ripped Melissa heart open, nearly crippled her career then left her with a goodbye kiss. His lips were stretched into a smirk, a small gesture that mixed her insides up in a horrid fury. His words still rang through the silence which hung between the two of them. Joel's dark hair swept away from his features with a cool breeze which caused Melissa to shutter. Every fiber of her body shook with disgust and every breath she took constricted in her throat in threats to choke her. The shopping bags in her hand had somehow slipped to the ground and the sunglasses on her face hid the look of shock. For a moment, her eyes closed to rally all her emotions. His words seemed to echo and bounce off the buildings.
'Did you miss me?'
June 16, Seattle, WA, 5:24 AM, 6 years ago
Joel's hand crept up the soft thigh of a younger Melissa. Her lips broke into a smile, blue eyes fluttered open only to be blinded by the sun light slinking through the curtains. The two of them were tangled together on a cozy queen sized bed. Her arms threw themselves around his neck loosely as the two met in a gentle kiss. Joel relaxed down into the sheets and blankets once more while Melissa's head rested against his shoulder. Their fingers intertwined together with a long sigh.
Melissa Reed: “All you did was go get us coffee. Are you so vain to think I'd miss you, sweetness?”
Joel Roy: “I had high hopes.”
Melissa Reed: “Well those hopes will be crushed because I didn't miss you. I was too busy sleeping.”
Joel's lips pressed to the top of her head and Melissa eased her body away from him to grab the coffee from the bed side table. The sheet fell to reveal her nude form to him. Her hair dripped from her shoulder to cover her breasts from his sight. Joel moved over slowly, his hand ran up her thigh to her hip then traced against her flat stomach while he kissed her shoulder. Melissa took a slow sip of the bitter drink the two of them sunk together into the pillows. Her heart felt so light. When Joel was around every nasty emotion in her being seemed to melt away. She was happy.
Joel Roy: “What are you thinking about?”
Melissa Reed: “That is a dangerous question to ask.”
Joel Roy: “I like to live on the side of danger.”
Melissa Reed: “I'm just... I just.... You know already, Joel. Don't act like you have no clue how I feel about you. I'm just happy right now being with you like this.”
Joel's smile was kind, gentle, and so alluring to watch spread across his lips. Yes, he knew how she felt about him. How much she loved to see him. For a while, Melissa believed that the two of them shared something wonderful. She allowed herself to love him despite everything in her being that told her it was wrong. Joel was different than any man she'd ever met.
“Do you want me to make us breakfast?”
Joel Roy: “No, you did it yesterday. I'll do it.”
Melissa Reed: “Well, aren't you being nice. It's such a rare thing to see from you.”
Joel bent forward a bit to give another kiss to her shoulder.
Joel Roy: “Get up and get dressed. I'll meet you in the kitchen.”
And with that the man slipped away from her to leave Melissa to pulled some clothes on.
April 9, Jersey, -- -
Melissa Reed: “You can happily go fuck yourself, Joel.”
The words rang with pure venom as she knelt down just enough so she could grab her shopping bags and trot away from him. When she passed by Joel his smile had never faltered but he did not allow their meeting to end...
Joel Roy: “How can you be so cold, Mel? I've missed you.”
Melissa didn't reward him with a reaction until he spoke again.
“I guess you haven't had time to miss me with all your boyfriends... Oh, did you think I wouldn't know about Jessup? Does he still wear that foolish get up in the ring? What about the new boy, Desmond, right? Was it that face paint that got you or perhaps those sweet words he says to you, really made you feel whole again, didn't they? No, no, both of them could never measure up could they? Not to him. Do the people you hang with believe you are heartless? Have you tricked every single one of them into the false front that you're a slut with no guilt. We both know that you still care, Melissa. Every guy you fuck is just tearing that protective shell you've built. How long will it be until you fall for one of them. I think I know who really has you... Tell me about Beck Ramsey, Mel. Did his status with the ladies make you want him? Those rumors of how uncaring he was? Was it the smile?”
Melissa stopped in place.
“Oh. I struck a nerve. You've always been so easy to read!”
Melissa Reed: “What do you want this time, Joel? I'm not in the mood for your games.”
Joel Roy: “Melissa, we both know you are always in the mood for some games. You can't resist a good game, especially if it has to deal with someone's mind. Aren't those your favorite?”
Melissa Reed: “You're right... I do love games..”
An exhausted tone swept over her usual playful tone when she responded to him. Joel had approached her from behind with both of his hands clapped to her hips. Unfortunately, Melissa had been in this situation with him before. Many times had he returned to stir her life up, make her realize how idiotic she was for trying to 'fit in' and trick her into doing his dirty work.
“Whose life are we destroying this time, sweetness?”
Joel Roy: “Hers.”
He whispered into her hair. The picture was of a pretty brunette with a fangirl smile. Melissa exhaled through her nose as she leaned back against Joel.
“Are you ready to be my lovely little partner again?”
Melissa Reed: “Mmm.”
Joel Roy: “I really have missed you...”
Her elbow rammed into his stomach with as much force as she could muster. When he stumbled away with a loud groan, his reaction had brought a smirk to her own lips. Melissa had grown up since their time together. Her heart had long since forgotten his touch. The mind games he attempted to play only made her chuckle at this point. Much to his utter surprise she wasn't as weak as she first led on.
Melissa Reed: “I've really missed you.”
Her head tilted back to allow her signature Harlequin laugh to echo through out the short ally. It made an inquiring expression to form.
“Oh, Joel, sweetness, you have grown so predictable! The last we met, you tried the same trick to lure me back into your pathetic world of misery but it does not hold the same power. Does the thought of me not loving you render you weak? I'm sure a small part of you is struggling because we both realize i've moved on to better people. Please, do not attempt to act as if you are still on my level, darling. Throwing Beck or Desmond in my face to try to make me feel something! You must be desperate. ”
Her hand snatched up a fist full of his dark mane. Melissa had waited a very long time to see Joel confused. That small crack in his demeanor had opened up a door into his rare weakness. With a yank, he looked up at her with a blank expression.
“The sad, lonely, girl you left behind has died along with my craving to fall in love. I wouldn't think about using those men against me because you'll come up very short. I dare you to come after me with those tricks again and I want you to try to threaten me. You've forgotten who was at your side when we ruined those peoples lives. You see, I ripped a page from your book and rewrote it into something better. Joel, my sweet, sweet, Joel... I am no longer a puppet to be controlled by any master nor am I a toy to be fixed. The past should remain there. I've transformed into a beautiful puppet master myself to control whom ever I please. Do not mistake me for being so easy.”
Melissa released his hair while she spoke so he could stand up right again. The more she spoke the larger Joel's smirk became. He wanted this. Who was she to deprive him of what he really wanted to see from her?
“We both know that you are now no longer in my league of playing games because how far i've gone. Joel, you used to be a player in the game, the way you manipulated everything around you but now there are no more pieces in your corner to use. However, I have many pawns at the ready.”
She was inches away from him.
“Let me tell you how intoxicating it is to live the way I do. The Sin City has became my playground, the stallion has become my knight and you? Well, you are so in need of company that you return to a woman who hates you. I'm not in the mood for you or your attempt to make me feel for you.”
Melissa flashed a smirk right back at him and twisted on her heels. Once again, her exit was halted but this time by an appearance of Joel's bitch. She had bright red hair this time around but that annoying mouse faced remained twisted in a cocky smile. Melissa made a short scoff at the sight. This had become annoying.
“Oh! Don't tell me, you are here to beat me up again? Joel, do you ever change?! Bring it on, sweet heart.”
The girl lunged forward without so much of a word, which was odd, however it didn't stop Melissa to react quicker. Her body coiled up around the female with so much speed that she couldn't even properly stop the submission move. Melissa grabbed her wrist to tug it backwards. The Octopus. The girl huffed for a moment with frustrated noises.
? ? ? : “We aren't in the ring! You dumb bitch!”
Melissa Reed: “Hmm?”
She tugged a little harder on her wrist, straightened her legs up to pull the female and receive a whimper. Joel had watched with a devilish grin. Why did he seem so happy? Before Melissa could see the situation until it was too late. The female dropped backwards onto the concrete. A burst of pain ran through Melissa's back, body flailed like an electrocuted victim as she writhed in pain.
Joel Roy: “Barbara... Come here.”
The female climbed off of Melissa to skip over to her master. Melissa pulled to her knees to rub her back with her hand. A soft, faked sob left her lips while her hair hung like a curtain to hide her face. It transformed into a laugh. Once again, Joel was taken back with her reactions. He wanted to see her anger, hurt but Melissa was aware of it then changed.
Melissa Reed: “Oh, ouch, I can't remember the last I hurt lik-- Oh wait, I felt this sore last time I was with Desmond. Mm, that boy is a very intense lover.”
She stood up with a quick hop of her feet. Even with the pain of her back she didn't stop to linger on it. Instead, she picked up an old piece of wood. Melissa clapped it to her palm then approached the two. Joel's smirked had return but the female, Barbara suddenly seemed concerned. It was pretty obvious of what was to come.
“DUCK!”
Melissa screamed and the female did but Joel just stood his ground in the belief that she wouldn't hit him. However, like before, he'd be sadly mistaken because the chunk of wood slammed into his face with a full body force. Even though Joel had a lot of height of Melissa, it didn't change how quickly he crumbled to the ground. Barbara squeak nervously to check on Joel his face was still hidden away from sight. No doubt the skin had broken on his cheek or his mouth had cracked because blood splattered against the ground.
“What did I tell you? I am not a game piece anymore! You want me to do your dirty work then you better sweeten the deal. I'm not for free and I'm certainly not your bitch to command. Joel, I dare you to come after me! Go ahead and have your boys try to beat me but we both know how dangerous I am now. Mm, good bye, sweetness. Come back when you've grown up.”
Those had been the same words that parted them last time but Joel had been the one to deliver them. Melissa tossed away the wood before she scooped up her bags to leave.
Joel Roy: “You'll regret this, Mel.”
He snapped but she had already rounded the corner.
Later, 5:36 PM, Tour Bus.
Inside a very comfy tour bus, Melissa winced as she listened to MJ Bell scold her....
“You can't go around hitting people in the streets! You do realize that cops don't care if you are a wrestle, right? If anyone saw that you could get into serious trouble.”
Melissa Reed: “I know, I know but you don't understand if I didn't hit Joel in the face then I would have never gotten away. The man has more tricks then a magician!”
MJ sighed into the phone to announce that she understood but didn't accept it. Melissa tapped her foot against the ground while she shot another character in the end. The phone grew quiet while the sounds of Call Of Duty filled the silence. After a little bit, MJ spoke again.
MJ Bell: “Melissa, don't take this the wrong way but what are you even doing in OCW? I mean, I'm glad you're around but do you have a plan of action? You could have played match-maker while being back in Sin City.”
Melissa Reed: “Oh and what is your plan of action? Finally kissing someone other than Ian?”
MJ's tone dripped with sarcasm at first.
MJ Bell: “Ahah. You are so funny. I'm here to wrestle, grab a title, what everyone else is doing. I'm also finding my footing with my brother around. ”
Melissa Reed: “Mmm, well, most people they want titles. There are those few that don't see to really care, in which, why bother? Everyone wants a title... I mean, hell, I want a title. ”
MJ Bell: “Be serious and answer my question.”
Melissa Reed: “The same reason anyone else is. I'm just not serious about it yet, is that a bad thing to admit? Please tell you aren't about to scold me again...”
MJ Bell: “You should ask Dean to book you in a match for this Massacre. You had said that you didn't want to be seen as a joke but if you don't step up, that is it.”
Melissa Reed: “Will you get off my back if I do?”
MJ Bell: “Yes, I'll return to nagging Kenshin about his shoulder.”
Melissa Reed: “Oh? Are you two talking again?”
MJ Bell: “Yeah. No awkwardness or anything. I had lunch with him earlier today actually. ”
The sunset haired laughed before she started to explain the lunch the two had. It amused Melissa to hear just how excited MJ was. Melissa could almost hear the smile on MJ's face the more she talked about it. Melissa allow to conversation to change pace for a while but when it died down it hopped back.
Melissa Reed: “Anyways, I'll speak to Dean about setting me up in a match this coming Massacre and I'll figure out what I'm doing dealing with OCW. I'm not just some clown and you were right. I just, hm, it's hard to explain, sweetness but I'll get my act together. Maybe I'll get an interesting win, eh? Now, if you'll excuse me I have people to-- OH, You mother fucker!”
Both of her legs kicked in anger when another player killed her.
MJ Bell: “Enjoy your game, Mel.”
Melissa Reed: “Bye bye sweetie.”
The cell phone dropped to the couch as Melissa hopped backwards onto it. Her weight balanced on the cushions as she rapidly pressed the correct buttons on the controller.
