SCENE 1
After his father’s passing, Kenshin Takamura didn’t know what to do with himself. For the longest time, he quit competing because he felt that without his father, he was lost and would never be able to win another match. He had lost his way, and somehow found himself in the eyes of the Yakuza. They wanted to recruit him for his prowess in martial arts.
“Come on, Takamura. You will not have to worry about anyone messing with your mother ever again.”
Kenshin stood alone as three other boys around his age. The one in the middle who had been speaking, obviously the leader of the three, was Sho Urigame. His two buddies who obviously didn’t know anything about losing weight by the fat bellies that hung over their belt were Akira Fuji and Jiro Sarugaki.
Kenshin Takamura: “I am not interested.”
Takamura’s father had taught him better than to join a gang especially to join the Yakuza. He explained that the life sounded a lot better than it actually seemed specifically in the long run. Kenshin's eyes finally began to scan his surroundings. He was more or less trapped because he had taken a shortcut through an alley in Tokyo. A rather dark alley which had a bad reputation to begin with. Kenshin had never been one to be afraid of reputations though or the reasons that the reputation existed like these three young Yakuza members.
Sho Urigame: “Oh, come on, brother…”
Sho walked over to Kenshin and dropped a brotherly arm over his shoulder. He had a friendly smile on his face. Was it a mask or was it real? Takamura couldn’t quite tell.
“With your skills, you could go far. My grandfather has already shown much interest in you. So you already have a paved way to the top at my side.”
Needless to say, Sho’s grandfather was a rather high ranking member of the Yakuza so naturally Sho acted like he was just as important to the Yakuza. Kenshin didn’t even bother to look at the teenager that had his hand over his shoulder. Instead, his eyes watched the other two who had stupid looking grins on their faces, Sho’s muscle, even though he didn’t really need it. Sho was a renowned fighter in his own right and could easily rival that of Kenshin’s own skill in martial arts.
“I will tell you what, Takamura. We will give you some time to think about it, okay? I suggest you make a decision that pleases everyone. I am pretty sure you know what the decision should be, right? Take it easy, brother.”
Urigame shoved Kenshin away from him causing Takamura to stumble just a bit before he regained his balance. His dark eyes watched the three as they walked away. The two fat bodyguards walked on the outside respectively while Sho walked between them without a care in the world with his hands cradling his head. Kenshin knew that one day he would have to take that kid on, but how could he without putting his mother in danger?
SCENE 2
CRACK! CRACK!
Silence.
CRACK! CRACK!
Not a sound.
CRACK! CRACK!
The scene opened up to a dojo. The double cracks sounded off once more as the camera panned around to see what exactly we were hearing. There Kenshin Takamura was in that horse stance, wearing only his gi pants, as there were two karate black belts taking turns striking him on the back with kendo sticks. This wasn’t Kenshin’s normal horse stance, instead of his hands being at his sides, he had his arms crossed in front of his chest. We could see that his formerly dislocated shoulder was still bruised.
His bruised eyes glared at the mirrored wall before him, watching each strike hit him, but not moving or making a single noise when they did. Takamura had lost so there had to be punishment of some sort, and despite his lack of a pained expression, those kendo stick shots did hurt.
Kenshin Takamura: “At Black Out 2, I lost. I failed many as well as myself. Unfortunately, there was a price to pay.”
As he continued to speak, karate black belts continued to take kendo stick strikes upon his already red and welted back. Blood was even beginning to run from some spots especially the spots that Syren had opened up less than a week ago.
“The OCW Internet Championship was the price that was paid for my failure. Syren told the world that he would merge the Internet Championship with the ‘One True World Championship’ if he won, and he didn’t lie. It was not the fact that he merged the titles that bothers me…”
Finally, the two ceased hitting his back with the kendo sticks. Apparently, they had reached the allotted number of strikes. Kenshin just remained where he was and in his horse stance.
“It was actually how Scott Syren went about disposing of the Internet title. In a very dishonorable fashion, he burned the leather strap and melted the faceplate of the title. Actions like these are what I look to rid this business of, and the people who commit them. Unfortunately, I nearly gave my whole life to save that championship and it still wasn’t enough.”
“Now everyone is telling me that I need to take a break after that match. No, what I need to do is just to get back on my feet, take my strikes, and get back in my horse stance… and fight. I lost something important to me that night at Black Out, and I will recover it one way or the other, but until then, I need to get back into my horse stance and fight, and fight I will.”
“Needless to say, the outcome of Black Out has left a bitter taste in my mouth, but I could not let that stand. I needed an outlet to my frustration after I went so far to win only to lose in the end. That’s how this sport is. One minute you are riding high and undefeated then the very next moment, you have to start your climb toward the top once more. Well, this is where I am starting. I’m starting with Danny B. He accepted my challenge and now he will have to accept the consequences that come with it.”
The scene slowly faded to over to a screen that displayed #TsunamiWarning before fading to black...
