Leo the High School Intern here, again. Are you sick of me? I hope not because this is all I’ve got going for me in life...that and a free sub. I’m eligible for a free sub during my next visit at the local deli. As an unpaid intern, I’m very excited.
Anyway, I’ve got another list for you fans!
On this list I’m going to rank my top five OCW PPV’s of all time! Oh boy! This should be a good one, right? Right!
There were so many to choose from and no doubt I’ve left several 5 star shows off the list. But, what are you going to do? This is a Top 5...not a Top EVERYTHING. So...with that said, let’s get into it.
1 – Stainless Steel Ride
SSR remains my all time favorite OCW Pay Per View. A wrestling event taking place inside a Louisiana Prison during the heat of summer. The thought and planning and build that went into this event were top notch. The show was headlined by two members of one of OCW’s greatest stables, Aptitude, squaring off for the OCW Title in The Incredible One and Matt Meyhu. Perfectly Marvelous returned to challenge The Aptitude (Meyhu and TIO) for the OCW Tag Titles. The show kicked off with CJ O’Donnell facing Curt Canon in a ladder match with Checkers hanging from the ceiling. The show also featured a Birdcage Match containing Alice Knight and Bob Grenier. This show is littered with Hall of Famers, insane match stips, and tons of action...plus an inmate gets electrocuted. Best PPV of all time, IMO.
2 – Code of Silence
This show was the peak of 2015 OCW and still stands the test of time. Held inside a famed Opera House inside Milan...OCW put on a PPV performance worthy of a broadway classic. Supreme Machine competed twice, defeating Brandon Gateman in the streets of Milan before cashing his Oh Shit! Contract in and dethroning Danny B for the Savage Championship. Noah Mackenzie made his long awaited return, competing for an Oh Shit! Contract. He would fall short as RM Strong would prevail, earning an impromptu shot at an OCW Title of his choosing.. Awe.Some would retain the OCW Tag Titles by defeating the Lockwood Company and a Hall of Fame tandem of Mario Maurako and Lurrr. Bob Grenier would earn an OCW Title Shot by defeating PerZag and Mack O’Connor in a grueling ‘Penalty Box’ Match. Scott Syren and Andy Murray would both make appearances. And, in the main event, Chad Vargas would retain his OCW Title by defeating Danny B. A tremendous setting which hosted an even better event. A classic is hard to top and I’d be shocked if anything supplants this as the second best PPV in OCW History.
3 – Clash at the Coast
The OCW Pay Per View everybody said couldn’t be topped. And while this event is still near and dear to my 40 year old heart, I’m afraid it doesn’t hold up against the previous two. However, third on a list such as this means this remains a damn good event. Clash at the Coast took place on a beach in Hawaii. The ring was cast over the ocean. The ocean would come into play several times. Lurrr was acting owner at this time while Bifford was under the illusion he was the owner. Pryde would defend his Southern Title against Sean Fuller. The Incredible One, Mia Stone, and MJ Bell would wage war in an epic ladder match for the Central Title. PerZag would continue his ascent up the OCW ladder by defeating Jason Xavier for the Internet Title. And, in the main event, Scott Syren would defeat Chad Vargas and Bob Grenier for the Western Championship. This event is CLASSIC OCW. Check it out!
4 – Not Safe For Work
It’s strange. I feel OCW’s last run featured the best PPVs, on average, of any run prior. Yet, it’s best PPV comes in at fourth on this list. And, to be fair, I think NSFW could be interchanged with just about any ppv from that run. But...NSFW is what OCW is all about. Inside a water park...multiple match locations...beer, half naked people, blood, and lots of bad words. Classic OCW, Baby! Alice Knight, Chastity Temple, and Cecilworth M! Farthington would compete for the Paradigm Championship. Duce Jones and Bifford would square off...again. A major Hall of Fame clash between Lurrr and Matt Meyhu for the HOF Title. The Dravers would win the Tag Titles for the second time in their careers only to have R.O.S.E. cash their Oh Shit! Contract in and steal them. Eric Dane would win a brutal match against Bob Grenier. And, in similar fashion, Vincent Langston would defend his Savage Championship against Max Kael. Perhaps the most personal match in OCW history...three best friends would go to war...Mario Maurako, Paul Paras, and Silver Cyanide would finally settle it, once and for all...find out who the best of the Hall of Fame trio truly is, was, and will always be. In the main event, Mike Best would remain the undefeated OCW Champion by defeating Andrea Hernandez. Whew...maybe the most loaded card ever. What a show!
5 – No Limits 2
Yes...had to throw a classic in here. This show was, for years, deemed OCW’s greatest. It was the first show in OCW history to really incorporate wild stipulations and unfiltered creativity. Probably a little too unfiltered, at times. Not sure this show would be allowed by today’s standards. No Limits 2 featured the first ever Hazardous Ladder Match between two future Hall of Famers, Silver Cyanide and Andy Murray. OCW Hall of Fame tag team Sex and Violence would defeat up and coming team, Seventeen. SiLVeRFReaK would regain the Savage Championship. After a Hall of Fame run as Perfectly Marvelous, Paras and Maurako would split and go to war. Pornstar Parker would have a live sex show on air...and, Scott Syren would defeat Scoot Time in the first and only Whack Off Match. AND, in the main event, The Great One would retain his OCW Title against Josh Allen. Hall of Famers up and down this card...No Limits 2 was wild...it was fun...it was CLASSIC OCW, BABY.
Are these the ONLY great PPVs in OCW history? Of course not. But these are my top 5. Ask 10 other OCW experts and I’m sure you’d get 10 different lists. So many great events with many more to come!
Anyway, that’s it for this 40 year old intern. Have a nice day, everybody!
