PROLOGUE
Just about as soon as MJ Bell’s tweet came through, Kenshin Takamura grabbed his motorcycle helmet and his riding armor. He tweeted “Be there soon” back to her and, as he was walking out the door, he checked his smart phone to see a little smile emoticon tweet from her to him. Shortly afterward, he was on his blacked out Hayabusa headed toward the hospital MJ was staying at. It was a good thing there were no cops around because Kenshin was off to the races, weaving in and out of traffic to get to the LSU Medical Center.
SCENE 1
“MJ.”
Kenshin Takamura had just been sitting in the room waiting for her to wake up. He was just going over a few things on his smart phone when the middle-aged nurse had walked in to awaken MJ. Kenshin’s eyes looked up at the nurse then over to MJ, who hadn’t awakened yet from her light beckon.
Nurse: “MJ, sorry to bother you, but I have some good news.”
MJ groaned, her eyes blinked a few times. She slowly sat up in the bed and looked up at the nurse. As far as Kenshin could tell, she hadn’t yet noticed him sitting there, but he was a patient man so he waited quietly.
MJ Bell: “Hm? Y-yeah?”
There was a rather caring smile on the nurse’s face as she sat down on the edge of the bed. She seemed to be quite the motherly type or so it seemed to Kenshin based on first impression, and those were everything, right?
Nurse: “We’ll be able to get your discharge papers here soon, but I’m afraid there is a bit of bad news along with that…”
A rather somber look crossed the nurse’s face even as she quickly glanced over at Kenshin then back to MJ.
“I’m afraid the doctor wants you to stay out of the ring at least for most of next week.”
Honestly, that didn’t matter because President Dean had already made the decision to keep her from competing at the next Monday Night Massacre anyway so Kenshin assumed MJ would just shrug it off which was dead on. MJ slowly nodded her head, her teeth bit into her bottom lip.
MJ Bell: “I understand. Thanks.”
She gave the nurse a short smile but it seemed a bit forced. The nurse gently pressed her hand to MJ’s ankle underneath the blanket she had over her.
Nurse: “You tell me if you need anything.”
MJ Bell: “Okay…”
At this point, Kenshin was rather amused with the fact that MJ hadn’t noticed him. Eventually she would, and it would be rather humorous when she would come to the realization that he had been sitting there for a good while. When the nurse finally left the room MJ glanced over and jumped.
“Kenshin!? When did you get here?”
She tug the blankets up over her as she eyed him. The Internet Champion’s right eyebrow arched inquisitively.
“I swear you are a ninja.”
Well, he was Japanese after all so he MUST be a ninja. An amused smirk cracked across his features as he watched her holding her covers up over her neck as if she was naked under the sheets.
Kenshin Takamura: “Or maybe you’re just a very heavy sleeper, but I wanted to let you sleep.”
MJ Bell: “I am not a heavy sleeper.”
She dropped the blanket from her chest as she looked outside the window. Kenshin shook his head as he watched her.
“I didn’t think you’d get here so fast… What were you doing? Speeding? Did you miss me that much? I’m touched.”
Kenshin Takamura: “You could say that. So how are you feeling?”
MJ Bell: “Honestly? I feel loopy… Like my head is floating but then these waves of sadness hit, like when I think about what happened the other day. None of the doctors would tell me anything… They just kept saying it was serious...”
MJ clears her throat rubbing the back of her hand against her eyes. As she spoke, there was evident concern in Kenshin’s dark eyes. There was anger rising up in him. He wanted to dismantle Sean Fuller himself.
Kenshin Takamura: “I’m sorry to hear that. I will get Fuller for what he has done to you. I will.”
There was suddenly an intensity in Kenshin’s eyes that showed ill-intent toward the man he spoke of to MJ. Even with her damp eyes, MJ reached over to rest her hand against Kenshin’s forearm.
MJ Bell: “Kenshin, it means a lot to me that you would do that for me… But this is my battle. I have to do this. It’s to prove something to myself.I can’t let people think I’m weak and let you do all my fighting. He could have ruined my whole career with that stunt. Not yours, mine. I’m a big girl and you know I can take care of myself. Now, promise me that you’ll let me handle this.”
She gives his arm a little squeeze as she stared into his eyes with an intense look of her own. Kenshin’s gaze doesn’t waver putting the two in somewhat of a staredown. After a moment of silence, Takamura finally spoke up.
Kenshin Takamura: “Very well…”
Despite agreeing to the promise, he still seemed a bit on edge about the whole situation. MJ gave his arm another squeeze. She tried to distract him.
MJ Bell: “Besides… If you are too busy worrying about me, who is going to focus on your match with Syren? That is an important match for you. Go focus all your rage on that. Please?”
At first, Kenshin just nodded. As he thought about it more, though, she was right. MJ was a big girl, and she could fight her own fights. She did, after all, get into the wrestling business.
Kenshin Takamura: “You’re right. Fuller is a tough opponent, but I am sure you can make all of this right on your own…”
The Japanese wrestler seemed to calm down. It didn’t hurt to hear the strength in her voice as she said she could handle the situation. When she displayed her fiery confidence, he couldn’t help but believe that she could pull off what some might believe was the impossible for her. Kenshin knew what many believed to be impossible was, in fact, very possible and highly likely.
“Do me a favor, though, MJ. While I’m pre-occupied defending my Internet Championship against Scott Syren, I want you to make me a promise.”
Kenshin made sure MJ was paying close attention to him before he began to speak once more.
“I want you to promise me that you are going to show Sean Fuller that he is not the monster he wants everyone to believe he is. Simply put, MJ, beat some respect and honor into him.”
A smile grew across MJ's beautiful features, intensifying her beauty, and she nodded before answering.
MJ Bell: “I promise. He doesn’t stand a chance against me. He’s going to learn that there are consequences for his actions.”
Kenshin just nodded before shifting the subject a bit. MJ released his arm then lean back in her bed.
Kenshin Takamura: “So, they’re discharging you. Do you want me to wait around until then? Maybe we can go find a good sushi place?”
MJ Bell: “Why would I want you to just leave? Dummy. I don’t think we will find a sushi place but it’s worth a shot.“
With that, Kenshin relaxed as he waited for the nurse to come back into the room to discharge MJ from the hospital…
SCENE 2
The scene opened up to Kenshin Takamura sitting in the locker room prior to Monday Night Massacre starting. His Internet Champion is hanging over his shoulder with the support of his hand to make sure it doesn’t slide off his shoulder.
Kenshin Takamura: “Only a few more hours now, Richard. A few hours until the biggest match of your career. Only a few short hours before I send out a message to Scott Syren through you. Feel free to thank the bookers for this match. Thank them for everything that happens tonight in the ring. More importantly, thank me for the mercy I will take upon you, but don’t worry, Richard, you’ll still have opportunities after I kick your ass…”
The OCW Internet Champion paused for a moment, creating a bit of suspense.
“You see, there’s this title called the Central Championship that you don’t even have to win. Even as a loser you can become champion. Isn’t that just a perfect fit for you, Richard? You can thank Miss Casablancas for that. Heed my warning, Richard.”
The camera zoomed in to Kenshin’s eyes which almost resembled that of tiger’s eyes due to the intensity in them.
“The Tsunami Warning.”
With that, the camera faded showing Kenshin Takamura’s eyes then #TsunamiWarning appeared on the screen before cutting to black...
