Will Grenier Accept the Match?
Chad Vargas has a huge opportunity in front of him. The only question is – will Grenier accept the match? If the answer is yes, then Vargas and Grenier will do battle for the Mix Trophy and an OCW Title shot at the company’s next big event. If the answer is no, then Vargas will be left without a match, forced to watch the show from the sidelines (hmm, this sounds kinda familiar). What will Grenier do?
A ROYAL WEDDING
Speaking of Grenier, it sounds as though plans are in the works for Bob Grenier to marry the love of his life at the start of The Greatest Show on Earth. We at OCW Newsline would like to congratulate Bob Grenier on what should be the happiest day of his life.
Iron Man Match
TIO announced that his OCW Title defense against Matt Meyhu would be an IRON MAN match. Iron Man matches have been few and far between in OCW history. So, this is an extremely rare occasion. It sounds like the perfect way to finalize a friendship/rivalry that dates back to over one year ago.
Crimson/Brooks Set to Wrestle at Greatest Show on Earth?
It’s yet to be announced, but all signs point toward these two settling their blood rivalry at The Greatest Show on Earth. If that is the case, what will the stipulation be? These are two of the most violent wrestlers in OCW history, so the rules will most likely offend the faint of heart. Moreover, what will be at stake…something’s always got to be at stake.
Preparations Coming Along as Planned?
I’m told the tent has been erected in Papillion, Nebraska. The grounds are currently being worked over while props, bleachers and any other item you could imagine being useful at an event of this magnitude are being set up. This will, without a doubt, be one of the biggest shows in OCW history. Might even be THE GREATEST
Nebraska Economy Set to Boom?
The sparse town of Papillion has been working overtime to accommodate the increased flow of humanity it will experience in a few weeks’ time. I’m told all rooms are booked within a thirty mile radius. Local business owners are expecting over 50% of their yearly income to be garnered during the week of this mega event.
Alice + Uber Man = OCW Power Couple?
Birds of a feather, as they say. And, no, that’s not some lame owl joke. Uber Man has made it no secret where his affections lie. Alice seemed to respond, in kind earlier today on Twitter. Will she be in his corner this Monday as he competes against Josie Barnes? What does the future hold for these two OCW stars? Stay tuned!
Change in the Wind?
Kestrel defeated Muffles and Anthony Wentz in one of the best matches of 2018. She will now face Curt Canon at The Greatest Show on Earth for a shot at the Craze Championship. Or, will she? I’m hearing rumors that OCW management might be ready to boost Kestrel into the main event scene. More specifically, I’ve been told that the winner of Canon/Kestrel may be given the option to take a #1 Contenders match for the OCW Title instead of a shot at the Craze Championship.
Muffles Surprises
People backstage are saying the 2018 debut of Muffles the Bunny was eerily reminiscent of the debut featuring a former OCW Champion and current Hall of Famer. That man? The Big Bifford. There are a lot of similarities between the two. The most important similarity being – talent. Muffles astounded the OCW staff with his performance on Monday and they have now started to view Muffles as a major star in the making.
Anthony Wentz to the Main Event
Let’s not forget the Dirty Rascal. He was game against Kestrel and Muffles, two wrestlers who are valued with high regard by OCW management. In fact, one could argue he, technically, didn’t lose on Monday. Scruff called for the bell when it became clear to him that Wentz was about to suffer a major injury. What would have happened had Scruff let the match play out? Could Wentz have fought through the pain and ultimately emerged victorious? We’ll never know. But, what we do know is that Wentz will be competing in the Main Event this week against Matt Meyhu. This is a golden opportunity for Wentz to capture a massive win and launch his career to the next level.
Ed Houston’s Stock Rising
It was a tough night for Ed Houston. He came so close to defeating The Incredible One in a great match this past Monday evening. There is no doubt the OCW high flyer woke up this morning with something of a hangover – a sort of ‘what if’ type of mindset. One move here, one move there and the result could have easily been different. With that being said, Ed Houston is clearly a man to watch out for in 2018. Look for Houston to compete in many more main events moving forward.
Big Win for Brooks
Julliet Brooks earned a much needed win on Monday night, surprising the Purple VIP with a small package. Unfortunately her victory was short lived as Tommy Crimson assaulted her in the most brutal of fashions shortly thereafter. From what I’m hearing Brooks is okay (or as okay as a person can be after an assault like that). And, if you’ve been paying close attention to the news, you’ll know that Crimson has been cleared of all major charges. So, that means we’ll probably see these two cross paths yet again this Monday night. Should be wild.
The Purple Controversy
Reports indicate that Josie Barnes and Marcus Welsh hammered out a deal for Barnes to wrestle The Uber Man at this upcoming Massacre. Those plans appeared to be altered by Commissioner Zybala early Tuesday morning, after the show had been booked. Josie Barnes took exception to these alterations and let her displeasure be known in a very public manner. Since then there has been a fair amount of disruption backstage between Barnes, Zybala and the Uber Man. Certain employees even speculated the match would be called off. From what I’ve heard the match is scheduled, as planned, with no additional stipulations.
List of Most Purchased OCW Shows
Thumbing through some of the numbers from a report of OCW’s monthly earnings, I came across an interesting list. It was a list of the top ten most purchased/downloaded/streamed past events in OCW history over the past month. Coming in at #1 was Stainless Steel Ride. #2 – August 7th 2018 Massacre. #3 – Like There’s No Tomorrow. #4 – Clash at the Coast. #5 – Revenge. #6 – No Limits 2. #7 – Code of Silence. #8 – Resurrection. #9 – Rookie’s Night Out. And, coming in at #10 – Black Out 2. Pretty rad list, if you ask me!
