Biography:
Chad Vargas was born to former NWA great and 20-time World Heavyweight champion, Bagwell Vargas. Wrestling was in his blood, but so was stock car racing. He was a three time late model track champion at Bristol Motor Speedway in Tennessee by the time he was 18. Suddenly his racing career was halted when his father and best friend passed away at the age of 49 of a heart attack. Vargas, with younger brother Stonewall Vargas began training to continue his father's legacy. Vargas traveled north to Nova Scotia, Canada and was trained by Canadian wrestler turned promoter Rasputin and after six months of in depth intense training, Vargas along with Stonewall we're signed by Rasputin's federation NAWA.
Once in NAWA, Vargas wrestling under "Cobra" with a snake wrangler gimmick rose to superstardom by way of feuding with then North American champion, Kid. Vargas was able to defeat Kid for the North American championship, a rematch was scheduled for Saturday night Slaughter -However, before Vargas and Kid we're to meet up in the ring, Kid was killed in a plane crash somewhere in New Mexico. With heavy hearts, Rasputin booked Vargas and Maverick to face one another for the title. Vargas would go onto defeat Maverick and retain the title. Weeks later, Vargas would later relinquish the championship due to strange happenings, thinking the title was haunted by his bitter rival, Kid - he couldn't handle the stigma and dropped it, he would go on to feud with Mr. Plow, current World Heavyweight champion, but before the two we're to settle their differences at Chill Out '99, Rasputin suddenly closed the NAWA.
Vargas wasn't unemployed for long, as he went on to join EHWF owned and operated out of North Carolina by President Matt Carver. Vargas was thrilled to be back in the south and quickly climbed the ladder of success there, beating greats like Lil' Biggs, Damien Ryle, Ghost, Mr. Plow, and Rasputin, who came out of retirement to compete in the EHWF. Stonewall Vargas, Vargas' younger brother also made his debut in EHWF wrestling under the name 'Venom'. They became a staple in the tag team division eventual multi-time champions as "the Outlawz" they managed to hold the tag titles together for a record 477 days. Stonewall would later go on to do a lengthy prison bid for attempted murder, and upon his release would return to EHWF and wreak havoc on his older brother, feuding with one another for the World title. Vargas would later go on record to say one of his greatest moments was putting his brother over and dropping the strap to him. Vargas had a successful run for the EHWF's 4 year tenure, becoming a multi World champion, and holding the Internet championship a record 16 times. Vargas would also become a Grandslam champion and inducted into the Hall of Fame. President Carver had to step down due to being diagnosed with cancer, and ultimately bequeathed the EHWF to Vargas. Vargas tried to run the EHWF as best as he could, but being hated by everyone, he had a hard time getting superstars to work for him. Instead, Vargas "fell out" of the spotlight, and began donning a mask and wrestling under "Inverter II" all the while working a deal to sell the EHWF to XHWF (and eventual NWF) owner Trent Medlow. Once Medlow purchased EHWF, it then merged XHWF and Vargas stayed employed until the XHWF's demise itself, over his XHWF tenure wasn't nearly as successful as his previous with EHWF but did manage to pile up 5 European championship reigns.
From his departure of XHWF, he went on to ink a deal with Jay Dubb's VCW, where he was repackaged and began wrestling under his real name, with a redneck Tennessee cowboy gimmick. He had modest success with VCW, as President Dubbs had a hard time keeping it open, closing it numerous times only to reopen it a short time later, before Vargas grew tired of wrestling and called it quits.
It had been four years since Vargas stepped foot into a wrestling ring when he joined Dwayne Blair's EWL and Mike Walker's EMF simultaneously in 2008. EWL was a brand new promotion, while EMF had a 8 year history. It was in EWL where Vargas had met Treat Cassidy. With Cassidy's guidance, Vargas quickly ran through EWL and became World Heavyweight champion by way of defeating Chris Legend, whom he had a bitter rivalry through backstage spats and he and Legend facing each other many times in other promotions unworthy of speaking of. Vargas defeated Legend for the title at July's PPV, High Noon and held the championship until EWL closed it's doors. Vargas would than focus on EMF, EWL's sister federation, and right off the bat was in the pit of battling undercard talent night after night such as Double A and Gambler, going nowhere in his EMF career, Vargas and President Walker had a match together, and if Vargas won, he would bring in his own booker. Vargas would go onto win and bring in NWF co-owner Mike Williams. Williams though, couldn't do exactly what he wanted and was eventually banned from EMF for utilizing his freedom of speech, as EMF was a heavy liberal company, in which Vargas would have numerous issues with over the course of his career there. Even with the best agent money could buy, Treat Cassidy could not get the booking correctly. It was literally like a 5-year old boy was booking their programs. This is where the phrase "WEAK ASS BOOKING" became coined.
Having bad blood and animosity towards President Walker, Vargas left the EMF, only to return a few months later, and was finally pushed to the moon, eventually facing World champion Dan Godwin, however, Vargas would later no show the event due to yet another contract dispute with the libtard commissioner, Tony Ikeda. Vargas would wrestle one final time for EMF against Troy Gafgen, if Gafgen won, Vargas would retire. However, Vargas won the match and still said fuck it, and left the EMF in 2011.
It wasn't until January of 2014 when Vargas made a surprise appearance at EMF's weekly program, Shockwave blasting an acoustic guitar over the head of Commissioner Tony Ikeda. Vargas would than go on a 6-0 undefeated streak in the EMF, finally getting the true push he deserved. He was named #1 contender for the World championship after defeating Chris Marx, Mack O'Connor, Kevin Bourne, and Tony Ikeda. Vargas would than go on to face current champion "Michael Cena" at Return of an Era, after being TOTALLY FUCKED, and considering Cena was VP, and a HORRIBLE performer (even SHITTIER WRITER) Vargas knew the odds were against him. But given a stellar performance and a should be victory, it wasn't so, and Cena ended up retaining his title. Vargas went on a terror and beat the shit out of every EMF staff member and dark match wrestler, he could find. Including breaking Shockwave GM Shane Anderson's neck. Vargas made his way into President Walker's office and broke his nose, than on his way out head butted Diva's champion Mickie James shattering her face. Vargas was fined big money and banned from EMF for life. Vargas has yet to pay one dime toward his fines, and as of September 2016, still has an e-mail from President Walker begging him to return. Vargas has not replied.
His time in EMF was tumultuous but he was able to meet a number of cool people, one of which Mack O'Connor, whom finally decided to leave EMF in favor of OCW in 2015 at the behest of Treat Cassidy and Vargas himself. A few other notable allies and rivals whom Vargas respected from EMF are: Chris Marx, Darly Oates, Lee Foster, Scott Tazte, Matt Dragon, and Kevin Bourne.
After nearly calling it a retirement after the EMF debacle, Vargas stumbled upon Online Championship Wrestling, and the rest is history. (Update later on...)
