[Thanks to Will/Marcus for the collaboration on this one -Rob]
The Dravers family are in Florida. The boys, so they can get ready for Massacre and their title shot. Richard and Charlotte so they can get to meet Marcus Welsh. And Alex? Well Alex is there because…she wanted to play on the beach.
The family make it to the arena and the twins direct their parents to the office of Marcus Welsh. Who’re is seen in the corridor and she smiles at the twins. They smile back. Charlotte silently asks Nathan ‘who’s that?’ with a wink. Nathan avoids the look from his mother and carries on.
Nathan: He er…isn’t around much but he rang me earlier. He’s expecting you. Go on in.
Nathan hugs Charlotte and Jonathan hugs Charlotte as well and the twins leave their parents to it.
Richard: OK, then. Now Alex while we are in there, you need to be a good girl, OK. We won’t be long. And then we can play on the beach, yeah?
Alex: Yay! OK Daddy.
Richard smiles and knocks on the door of the office. Charlotte carries Alex who rests her head on Charlotte’s shoulder.
Marcus: Yea?
Richard: Mr. Welsh? A pleasure. *Richard shakes the hand of Welsh* I’m Richard Dravers – you may have heard of me – I’d like to introduce my wife Charlotte and our little superstar in the making, our daughter Alex. Say hello, Alex.
Marcus: Look, I’m only down here due to some payroll issues. I’m scheduled to leave before the show starts. Could we just get on with it?
Alex suddenly goes a little shy and Charlotte smiles apologetically but modestly. Richard looks a little awkward but ignores his inner gut for the time being.
Richard: We appreciate your busy schedule Mr. Welsh so we won’t keep you. But basically we asked for this time to see you because my wife and I, we are not all that aware of OCW and we just wanted to make sure that OCW was a good fit for our sons. Could you just sum up OCW and what you’re about?
Marcus: We’re a professional wrestling organization. Your sons, who are themselves professional wrestlers, came to us looking for an opportunity. We watched tape, conducted a thorough vetting process and liked what we saw. It’s an opportunity for them to gain exposure and for us to improve our product.
Richard nods knowingly.
Richard: I must admit, we watched your show last week and you had some good spots. I see you’re really trying to put on a decent show. You know, back in the 70s when my brother and I were wrestling, the solid wrestling was there, but obviously today it’s more storyline based.
Marcus: I wasn’t born a wrestling fan. I took this job for the pay. I honestly couldn’t care less what happens as long as the people enjoy it and we turn a profit.
Alex notices a tin of lollipops on Marcus’s desk.
Alex: Mr. Man, can I have a lolly, please?
Charlotte: Alex! Don’t be rude. What did we say outside, young lady? Mr. Welsh, I am sorry.
Marcus: If she wants to be in this business probably best if she stays away from candy.
Richard and Charlotte look at each other with apprehension. They find Mr. Welsh to be somewhat prickly. And, that’s putting it nicely.
Richard: Well, in case you wanted to know more about the twins, they are currently 23. And they’ve been wrestling – well getting to know the basics - since 8 years old and my brother and I trained them personally. I prefer the down and dirty, gritty old-school technical side of things and Larry was a high flyer in his younger days.
Marcus: Yes, yes, I’ve read their files.
Richard: Yes… *Richard pretty much fake smiles* Is there anything else you’d like to know?
Marcus: I think we’re good here.
Marcus reaches for his phone and begins to dial a number. He casually waves them toward the exit.
Richard looks at Marcus as they head toward the exit. Charlotte tries to defuse the situation of her husband by quickly changing the subject.
Charlotte: Well. Beach time.
Alex: Yay!
