(( A Week prior to re-signing with Online Championship Wrestling New Japan Pro Wrestling held a packed show in Osaka, there we saw the Bullet Club trample over New Japan's best wrestlers, Hiroshi Tanahashi once again defended the IWGP Heavyweight Championship (the most superior of any countries world title) and we saw the last match of one of what could have been one of New Japan's fastest rising stars. Ashe Dawson faced off against Togi Makabe the NEVER Openweight Champion, a title that Ashe once held the match went 30 minutes, it was non-title and at the end Makabe won but both men shook hands out of respect.
The applause of the crowd was an unexpected thing to happen but what happened next was just as unexpected. Ashe Dawson asked for the microphone, granted gaijin wrestlers rarely spoke on the microphone but since Ashe had assimilated so much into Japanese society he picked up just enough language to speak to the gathered crowd. ))
Dawson: (Translated from Japanese)When I came here almost a year ago I was a stranger here, the first place I ever worked the OCW shut down because of unknown reasons...well unknown to me. I had to start from the bottom, I worked hard at the New Japan Dojo, spent quite a while as a "young boy" but once I was allowed into the ring for my first match I knew this place was a notch beyond the OCW. People were not complaining about their "spot" or title shots, this is a place where your talent and work shine through. I was fortunate to win the IWGP Jr Heavyweight Championship in my first few month of being on the roster and most recently holding the NEVER Openweight Championship that my opponent currently holds.
The reason why I decided to speak to all of you fans tonight is to announce with the blessing of the chairman Naoki Sugabayashi and president Kaname Tezuka I will be returning to the states to once again work for the OCW. I will proudly represent New Japan Pro Wrestling there and because of my contract will still be on the New Japan roster as well. This is not a goodbye, this is my chance to show the "wrestlers" if they can call themselves wrestlers of OCW what strong style New Japan wrestling is all about. Hopefully the next time you all see me I will be wearing the OCW World Championship here and elevating that belt to almost the same acclaim that the IWGP Heavyweight Championship is. Thank you New Japan and thank you to the fans of New Japan.
((With those words Ashe hands the microphone back to the ring announcer, he exits the ring and as he makes his way backstage many ringside fans want to shake his hand and verbally thank him for what he has accomplished in New Japan. ))
