The sun is hot. Almost too hot.
The ground is rough. Almost too rough.
The conditions are unforgiving. Almost too unforgiving.
JOCK Reasoning stands, staring at a prison. Outside are a bunch of men in striped outfits made of thick, thick cloth. They are chained together by the ankles. Pick axes are raised and lowered, digging deep into the ground.
They work hard. Almost too hard.
They sweat profusely. Almost too profusely.
They grunt angrily. Almost too angrily.
Jock looks back at the Slam Buss. He stares down the road wondering if there’s a portal or something he drove through without realizing it. Everything seems fine…he turns back toward the workers and notices a prison beyond them, in the background.
“This SEEMS to be the right place…but I can’t believe they still make prisoners do this.”
Jock steps forward, toward the hard-working prisoners. He steps off the road and into the grass. His progress is instantly halted.
“CUT!!!” an angry voice yells out.
Jock freezes and turns. A man in a director’s chair comes descending from the trees via a crane.
“Who let this amateur on set? He just ruined this great shot!”
Jock is confused. He points at himself.
“Yes, YOU!”
“I’m…sorry?”
“Unbelievable! Let’s take a break. I just can’t with this. It’s taken me completely out of the immersion.”
The ‘prisoners’ sling their pick axes at the ground while getting unhooked from each other. They storm off, frustrated. One of them shoulders past Jock saying, “Hack.”
“Look, I’m sorry. Nobody told me you guys were shooting a movie down here.”
Jock is ignored. He might as well be covered in malaria at this stage. He’s about to throw in the proverbial towel when he spots a man exiting the prison.
The man is old. Almost too old.
The man is angry. Almost too angry.
The man is bald. Almost too bald.
“It’s Mack,” Jock whispers.
Yea, almost too Mack.
We zoom in and it is, indeed, Mack O’Connor! He stands outside the prison wearing clothes that were fashionable back in 2021 or whenever it was he went to prison. Mack closes his eyes and takes in the fresh air.
“Mr. O’Connor!” Jock calls out.
Slowly, Mack’s eyes open. His jaw tightens. His murderous eyes fall on the infamous OCW employee.
“Congratulations on your release!”
Mack’s brow furrows. Are the pieces coming together? His release was sudden and more than slightly inexplicable.
“Mack, let me tell you about OCW Survivor.”
Immediately, Mack pivots and heads back for the prison gate. The guard just stares at Mack, refusing to let him back in.
“That’s right, Mack. Your release was acquired by the OG Board here at OCW. It is conditional on you heading out to the island and participating in OCW Survivor.”
Mack bends over and grabs a rock. He throws it as hard as he can over the prison gate. It crashes through a window in the prison, shattering the glass. He stares at the guard and offers his hands.
“That’s not gonna work, Mack. You’re ours for the entire summer.”
A local painter walks up to the gate. Apparently, something needs painting. Mack elbows him in the face, knocking him down. He then takes a can of black spray paint and defaces the prison wall. He stares back at the guard. Nothing.
“C’mon, Mack. It won’t be that bad! PerZag, Curt Canon, Lurrr…even Matt Meyhu is returning!”
Mack stares at the guard and blinds him with a shot of spray paint to the eyes. The guard yells and orders the gate opened. Finally, Mack finds a smile.
Until.
Several guards rush out and start beating Mack down with nightsticks. Jock looks on, shaking his head, “I don’t know why you had to make this difficult, Mack. You know it’s going to be fun.”
After a pretty severe beating the guards pick Mack up and carry him to the Slam Buss, placing him in the back. Jock thanks them.
“He’s gonna have fun, I just know it.”
With that, Jock shuts both doors to the Slam Buss and hops in as they drive away.
