You can do it!
The words echoed in Brooke's head a bit. She had heard it from her parents at a young age, from her coaches at LSU for gymnastics, from her trainers and general managers of the companies she wrestled for. The only person who didn't think she could do it, was herself. They say you are your own biggest critic. That is absolutely true. No one criticized Brooke Blakely harder than Brooke Blakely herself.
Brooke had always judged herself harshly and it showed in each and every promo she cut and each and every match she had. She came out of every loss in a worse mood and she came out of every win with a sense of shock. That is what happened when she faced off with Chris Grayson. After the win Brooke went to the backstage area and watched the rest of the show in the locker room, alone. Brooke was shocked when she found out she would be facing Delia Black for the Craze Championship. She shook her head in disbelief. Now was the time to get to work and win the big one. Now was the time for Brooke to tell herself, you can do it!
We saw an artist looking at the colors within their paints. He pulled out black and began speaking.
"Black. The darkness. Color of power and entitlement. No. I will not use this. It is a cop out, instead I will use purple."
The man went back to his canvas and began slathering the purple on the blank canvas. He stepped back and admired his work. We zoomed out to see a portrait of Brooke Blakely holding the Craze Title over her head. The scene snapped back to Brooke as she paced briskly around the hotel room. She had slippers on her feet because, after she went to visit Synn at the Siesta motel she didn't trust hotel room floors. She looked into the camera as she spoke.
"In the Miriam Webster dictionary, crazed is defined as "insane or wildly out of control." With what I have been through the last few weeks, the meetings with Synn and whatnot this title shot fits me to a T. Allow me to direct a question at Delia Black. Delia, how far are you willing to go for a mid tier title like the Craze Championship? Are you willing to do some weird sex shit? Are you willing to kill a man? I'd do ALMOST anything to get my hands on the gold. To say my life has been a journey of crazy is a complete understatement.
Delia, what do you know about me? Like what do you really know? The answer is simple. Not a God damned thing. I only let people know what I want them to know. My life is something no one wants to live. On the outside I may seem like the girl next door who was a major gymnastics star but deep within I am a tortured soul waiting to be released. You happen to be on the other end of that release. I will release it all over you until you beg me to stop but guess what. I won't stop. Your fate was sealed when I was announced as your opponent for You Can Do It. Meatloaf famously sang that he would do "anything for love, but he won't do that" and no one knew what that was. What is your that? What is the limit to what you will do? We all have a limit and when we are pushed to it, we bend or we break. Something deep within us chooses whether we snap or not. You do a lot of talking yet you say nothing."
Brooke kept pacing as she shook her head as if she was in disbelief. She stopped as she looked back at the camera.
"Every crime has to have the perfect cover up. People don't expect me to win the Craze Championship but when I do defeat you I need to have an alibi of how the perfect heist was pulled off. It all started at Louisiana State University."
Flashback
April 8, 2021
We see Brooke Blakely and her teammates adorned in purple and gold as they eagerly await their turn to showcase what they can do. Brooke would take the the floor first as the announcer brought her out.
"Introducing, from LSU on the floor routine, BROOKE BLAKELY!"
Brooke smiled and waved as present Brooke's voice narrated the scene.
"The music I had chosen, a remix of Drake's "Way 2 Sexy" began to pump through the arena. Our team was ranked twelfth out of the twenty teams competing. We had to start proving that there were not eleven better teams than us. As I let the rhythm flow through me I went through a great mashup of tumbles and dancing. It was time for the landing. I ran and did my best tumble pass of the entire floor routine. It was damn near perfect as I lifted my petite arms in the air finishing the routine. I ran off as my teammates hugged me. I awaited the judges scores. Judge one gave me a 9.7. Judge two have me a 9.8. Finally, judge three gave me a 9.7. By the times the scores were tallied I won the overall floor event and my teammate, Nadia, had taken third. At the end of the event the top three teams were named. We all huddled together and listened intently as the announcer spoke."
"Ladies and Gentlemen thank you for joining us for the Nationals of NCAA Gymnastics. In third place, the University of Oklahoma! In second place the University of Ohio State. In first place.. LOUISIANA STATE UNIVERSITY!"
Brooke continued narrate as we cut back to present day Brooke.
"We overcame a lot that day. I grew a lot that day. Know what I learned Delia? I learned that day that I was born for greatness. Every walk of life, I am a champion and the Craze Title will make it that way in wrestling as well. May see me as just another pretty face but I am a pretty face who will stop at nothing to succeed in everything I do."
We flashed back to the present where Brooke looked more intently into the camera.
"Delia we all know that you are carried in Le Influence by Claudia Frost. Honestly I wish I was stepping into the ring with Claudia but you were the one who lucked into the shot. I guess I will have to just bury you before Biff and Alice knock you down a few more pegs."
We cut to a dark alley. A homeless drug addict, a few feet away, slept by a dumpster. His breathing was deep but at least he is alive. Brooke Blakely was seen walking the alley in a dark hoodie with the letters "OCW" on the front. Her blonde hair was the brightest thing about the scene. She spoke again.
"Black, the color of nothingness. The only thing scary about Black is the inability to see more than a foot in front of you. Delia, this is what you are. A vast wasteland of emptiness. That vagabond sleeping over there, he is a perfect representation of what you bring to the sport of wrestling. You are fun to look at but once you open your mouth you reveal how stupid you really are. You speak many words yet you say so little. Remember a few weeks ago when you thought you and Claudia joined rival gangs. Wrigley said it best.
You see, even someone who is supposed to have your back doesn't believe in your ability to be a tough gal. Honey, I am from Houston. We still have a death penalty and we use it. The problem is I can't get you sentenced to death row for being a fraud. You are the wrestling equivalent of Miss Cleo. Call me now bitch!"
Brooke snickered at her own joke as she continued.
"This show me be taking place at a fun house but please don't make me and Delia face off at a fun house. She will just look at herself in the mirror as she posts pictures to insta and Twitter. I sound like a broken record. I feel like I've mentioned social media before. Oh that's right?!
Maria. Caruso. That's why this match seems familiar. I already beat someone like you Delia. Someone who is an "influencer" on social media."
Brooke made sure to make the air quotes when she said influencer. That was something Brooke never believed in. Cashing in on her looks. Brooke was a rather attractive woman and she could have made bank on Instagram or TikTok but she chose passion over vanity. She chose fighting over sitting back and relaxing. She chose wrestling.
"Delia, people like you and Claudia are a disgrace to this business. You have some talent but you are more concerned with how you look. You know what, we get it, you're hot. So is Alice Knight and she is a bad ass as well so she trumps you both. You can be hot all you want but without the gold you are just another piece of ass for neck beards to do cum tribute videos too. Hey if that's your cup of tea, I don't kink shame. Whatever helps you get off at night is fine with me. I have bigger aspirations than retiring early and posing naked on Only fans. When my career is done I am going down as one of the best to ever step in the ring. When your career is over you will just be the best at going down… if ya catch my drift."
Brooke winked as she stopped by the homeless man and put two crisp one hundred dollar bills in his jar. He nodded at her in appreciation.
"You see that Delia. He has fallen on hard times and I will donate to him. I won't support your fall from grace. You have all the talent in the world and you are squandering it being another walking cliché of what it means to be a wrestler. It's a shame. You are all cattle and no hat, Delia. Don't know what it means, Google it!! People like you make madder than a wet hen. Delia, have fun in your failure to win any gold at You Can Do It. I will put the Craze Title around my pretty little waist. When you are sitting there crying that you couldn't win either title all I can think is Bless Your Heart."
We cut to black as Brooke continued to walk down the dark alley. She stops at a convenience store and heads in to get some snacks.
The words echoed in Brooke's head a bit. WRIGLEY: You ain’t gang material, neither of you are. Look, let’s just drop the gang stuff and worry about getting ready for this match. This is just a battle royale, just go out there and work together until you’re the last ones and then you can figure out which one of you gets the win.
