-One must not neglect their duties. After all, all commitments are important to keep, no matter what it is. Donnie learned this, the right way, from a very early age that every commitment made is a commitment to keep.
It definitely made sense as to why Donnie was still a bachelor too. It wasn’t the fear of the commitment, but the intensity, that kept Donnie focused on his business commitments over passion.
But with OCW the third, Outsiders Championship Wrestling, a-knocking and his name on the card to face... Fanny... for their Streaming Service championship, Donnie had his reason to fight and his focus. Best part is that it would be a great warmup before facing the man called BRADDOCK on Halloween night.
Well, calling it a warmup may be a disservice to Fanny, like a smack on the cheek. It’s still a championship bout, but it would be a standard match. It would be nothing like the match stipulation that Donnie would be making sure to take advantage of...
Buried Alive.
And with how little Donnie knew about Fanny, he would need to watch a lot of game film. All he had to go by was her body type.
By everything that is holy, she is one hell of a skinny woman. Donnie was afraid to snap her like a toothpick made of balsa wood!
Her appearance was more startling than scary, and he would have to be “careful”. Of course, the man would do what he needed to do. Donnie wasn’t one to hold back on anyone, especially if named as a willing opponent; anything goes, really. However, there were still the rules, and he didn’t want to injure someone, because then how would they earn their money?
Then again, this is professional wrestling, not amateur MMA; if Fanny wanted to roll the dice, she had better hope not to hit snake eyes. Going in cold against a hotly rising star like Donnie is, considering his match expectations in Outcast Championship Wrestling, it would be wise for Fanny to lay the belt down and walk away, letting Donnie lift the title over his head and claim it.
Exactly what he had planned after making BRADDOCK into a lump in a shallow grave, Donnie knew that the intensity he had to bring to the table at Halloween Havok would have to be at that much higher a level. He would need to bring everything he had to the table in order to clear it and slam BRADDOCK through it. Even though the big spinebuster was something he opted to take out of his arsenal, he could still do it, and there was always just catching his victim off the Irish whip.
His matches, all of his training, all of the effort and energy and experience used: it was all to reach the top of the mountain, which now meant beating BRADDOCK. Originally, the target was SYNN, who was his tag team partner on Anarchy to beat down Asylum for their interference, which might have made the difference between victory and defeat at And Justice For Brawl.
But before facing BRADDOCK, first comes Fanny. Whether she’s a pussy or an ass, it all depends on where one is from. From Outsiders, she is their Streaming Service champion; what even is it?
In either case, a title is a title, and it would possibly lead to stepping up to and on to one Lord Allton and taking the Outsiders world title.
It would definitely make up for the time with OCW the first, as the unsteady waters that flowed once everyone pulled stakes and ran made life difficult, almost scary, as there were no guarantees for shows, let alone chances to work. The money didn’t dry up very quickly, but it made life very stressful for a while.
Then came the invitation and contract from Britlyn Baylor; then came the invitation and contract from Lord Allton. Everything fell into place.
And now, it seemed like the slow climb up the latter’s card made sense, especially with the work rate that Donnie put in for Outcast; it helped avoid the burnout that was very much possible. Between the two companies and his drive to improve, Donnie willingly relegated himself to having as little a social life as he could afford.
Champions don’t always have time to live, because they live to be champions.
SYNN had Brooke; even BRADDOCK had Asylum. Donnie just felt better alone, most times anyway.
But, as the indie show curtain lifted and Donnie exploded through it, listening to a generic copy of his Outcast entrance theme, his mind was focused on what he needed to learn to get better. If not to face BRADDOCK, he had to be ready for Fanny. Even though it was a month away, he needed to prepare, to perspire for the sake of the championship opportunity. Walking down the makeshift aisle in the banquet hall venue, dressed in a more wrestling-inspired attire of half-length trunks and boots, as opposed to his gi, fighting shorts and amateur wrestling shoes, he knew that every chance to compete or talk was a lesson on how to get better at the craft set in front of him.
The mic that was handed to him as he got to the ring felt comfortable in his hand, as his ability as an orator had improved drastically, the fans’ mixed cheers and boos a cacophony that rang in his ears; it did nothing to shake either his focus or his confidence. He got up and into the ring, taking his chance to cut his promo, prior to his opponent coming to the ring.-

Now, I know I’m here to fight some jobber. At this moment in time, it’s not about you. It will never BE about you; that’s why I have the microphone and you’re waiting your turn to make your entrance. I have something more important than you to worry about, and both of the opportunities for a real challenge are coming in October: Fanny at the next Outsiders card, and BRADDOCK on Halloween. Two title matches, less than two weeks apart, and I am fucking thrilled for the chance. It’s an opportunity to make my name that much bigger and that much more... What's the word I want? Important? Is the word “more” enough to illustrate my point?
-Donnie paces a bit in the ring, looking out into the crowd of fans, riding that line between casual and committed; he takes the moment to gather his thoughts as the group of under 1000 feeds off each individual.-
)Donnie Harris(
Doesn’t matter, because this will be a nice warmup, a nice bit of practice. I get Fanny first, and I know nothing about this woman: absolutely nothing. All I know is that I’m getting a chance to face her, fight her, and rip the Streaming Service championship from her.
-Donnie gets called over by a tech, who speaks to him with a card correction.-
)Donnie Harris(
You’re... You’re serious, right? Well, that’s another name I don’t know, but I’m a hell of a lot more familiar with who the hell Axis is. I finally get to face you, but if I can flatten Brooke Blakely, do you expect to have a chance, bud?
-Donnie sighs, shaking his head.-
)Donnie Harris(
Dealing with two competitors who can’t even touch the elite position I’m in right now, it’s something I can certainly handle, because we all started somewhere. We all started at the bottom. Unless you know someone who can push you right off the bat, or unless you’re related to someone in the business, we all started at the bottom. I don’t mind dipping my toes in the shallow end of the talent pool, so I can discourage them from thinking that they can face me on equal footing. I see myself, the Outcast #1 contender for the top championship, as elite, definitely: I have the athletic acumen, I have the performance ability; I have the drive to survive and thrive. That is why I am head and shoulders over many of my coworkers, and that is why I will continue to be performing at that elite level!
-The mix of boos and cheers intensifies, giving Donnie a chance to pause, looking out to those who stay sitting vs. those who stand up and get much more vocal about their opinion.-
)Donnie Harris(
Yeah yeah, go on then. Except look at how many of you are still parked on your chairs. You have no idea what you’re doing, which is why I come here to these microshows: to get better. Axis and Fanny are not prepared, no better than the rest of you.
-Donnie’s mic gets cut off as he keeps talking, the entrance of the other wrestler cutting off any of Donnie’s arguments. He tosses the mic and lets his opponent get to the ring, only to eat a knee soon after entering.-
