The camera panned around to get a view of the scenery. It was a clear night. The moon and stars were particularly bright, but only diminished by the crackling bonfire that had been created at this spot on the beach… In the distance, you could see a series of brighter lights, and you could even hear the Latin music thumping from this fair distance as visitors, tourists, and even locals looked to mingle in the crowd. While panning around, the camera finally brought its focus to the star of the promo: Tara. Tara was not with the crowd on this night. She was sitting on a wooden log that acted as a bench for the bonfire, with water dripping from the ends of her hair which was let down, and she was wearing a black wetsuit with blue lines going down the sides; she also held a towel around herself. Her gaze was fixated on the dancing flame in front of her.
One down… Tara thought to herself, but the expression on her face was rather stoic. The camera had zoomed in to focus on the details, just looking for any subtle expression, but her expression didn’t shift… not even by a mere twitch. She reached her hand down and tapped the screen to her phone twice to get a look at the time before finally breaking the silence.
“Why aren’t you hanging out with the crowd? Shouldn’t you be celebrating?” Tara asked in a mocking tone, and scoffed, “Celebrate what? One victory?” She shook her head, “There are people that I’m sure are--” she raises a hand and points to the distance, where the music can be heard thumping still, “--celebrating their advancement… Not concerning themselves with who their next set of opponents are, and that’s fine! That’s them! But I… I will save my celebration for when Victor and I end the Margarita Mix as the winners, and then-- then I will decide what we’re going to do… whether I’m going to go after a belt for my own, or whether I will suffice with earning tag team gold.”
She took a brief moment to contemplate the options, but let out a heavy sigh and shrugged her shoulders before resuming, “I think I’m going to wait to decide, and it will determine whether Victor pisses me off or not. But let’s take this one step at a time, right? Preparation… Preparation is everything.” Tara says with a simple nod of her head, “I paid attention to my options. I watched Sebastian and Ricky take on Father Thyme and Billy, not certain who was going to walk out as the winners… But you two did it. You should pat yourselves on the back. You advanced to the second round.” Tara flashed a smile to the camera intended for their next set of opponents.
“Like Victor and I, we proved that we could work well as a unit, and you two also proved that you were able to work together. You looked like two pieces of the same puzzle, and it showed. That’s something that we’re going to have to look out for-- you two being on the same page. It’s going to be a challenge, and I do like a challenge… But, as I indicated the last time I showed on OCW for round one of the Margarita Mix: tag teams… have not been my specialty, but throughout my career, that has never stopped me! I’m a bit of what you might call a master when it comes to going against the numbers, and I don’t think either one of you truly understands-- truly knows-- who you’re getting into the ring with.”
She raised her eyes to pierce the camera with her glare, the orange light from the fire reflecting off of her own blue eyes while she cocked her head to the side and licked her lips.
“The name’s Tara. I’ve been doing this shit for far too long, and it’s going to take a lot more than impressive pecs, and some goofy hair to frighten me. I’ve taken down people far more experienced than either one of you… that were larger than Sebastian, and quicker than Ricky. Both of you are-- fresh meat… Talk about competition all you want, and how well you fared in competition in the past, but wrestling is no ordinary competition, Sebastian: there are things that you only learn from experience… There are mistakes you can force your opponents to make, that you only learn from experience. And for twenty years, I’ve forced people to make those mistakes while I ascended to the top of every company I’ve signed with. Believe me when I say, I will force both of you to make mistakes when the time comes, and you’re going to pay for them.” She said with a grin before pulling the towel from her shoulders and draping it over the log; she stands up and holds her arms out as if to put herself on display.
“Search for mine. Search for my weakness. Search for what will break me. Search for my mistake, and if you can find one: exploit it. But darlings, I’m going to warn you right now that my mistakes are few and far between… Especially in the ring. I look forward to stepping into the ring with both of you. I look forward to crushing your ambition and dream of walking out as the winners of the Margarita Mix. Chin up, though. There’s always next year.” Tara winked.
And there was a sudden chime from the sand… Tara leaned down to get her phone and brushed off the sand, and swiped the screen, “Dru!” Tara said with excitement. “Hey, love! I just got to the hotel. Where are you? Do you want to meet at the bar?” Dru answered and the dogs could be heard barking in the background. Tara pulled her phone away for a moment to glance again at the time, “I can be at the hotel in ten minutes. I have to change.” “Hurry! I can’t wait to see you!” Before Tara could answer back, the phone clicked. “Ciao for now.” Tara said and walked away as the scene concluded.

:: Did we really just fucking win our match? It’s been almost two weeks since we beat the team of Father Thyme and his partner ‘Bullet’ Billy Young. Was it a fluke win, nah it can’t be… it couldn’t be… could it have been? Nah… we worked our asses off for that match and just like that match we’re going to win our second match, when we go up against the team of ‘The Phoenix Queen’ Tara Fenix and a man in a mask Victor Malvado… I thought to myself as I sat up right on one of the pool chairs, taking out my Iphone 12 and dialing my team mate’s number Ricky Rodriguez. ::
SEBASTIAN GREY: “Did we really win that bro?”
:: I question as Ricky answers. ::
SEBASTIAN GREY: “Yah bro, did we really win our match for the Margarita Mix against them nobodies Father Thyme and ‘Bullet’ Billy Young?” ------ “We did, so I wasn’t dreaming this all up then?” ------ “Okay, good as for some odd reason I had thought I was dreaming the whole thing up bro…” ------ “No, no I haven’t been drinking, not a single drop bro, seriously I haven’t.” ------ “Trust me, you’d know if I had been drinking.” ------ “Well, that night we won, yea let’s not mention that night to anyone, not even Heaven.” ------ “It was pretty funny, I do have to admit that.” ------ “You know they know it was us who did that, but they’ll have one hell of a time proving we did that…”
:: I laugh at the thought of what had happened during our celebration of our first victory over Father Thyme and ‘Bullet’ Billy Young, before continuing on. ::
SEBASTIAN GREY: “We’ll yea bro… no court, no judge etc., would believe a word they said, trust me.” ------ “Well if they did we’d just get my father to bail us out, he’s got a few people who owe him some favors…” ------ “Gotchya.” ------ “How’d my acting tryout go?” ------ “I think it went pretty damn well to be honest…” ------ “What do I mean, well yea bro, I got the part and we start filming in like two weeks or something like that.” ------ “Hey bro, I got to let you go, alright, talk to you later, for sure.”
:: I say as I hang the phone up, as I do I slowly get up from where I had been sitting near the pool and walk on over to the edge of the pool, slowly I begin to lower myself into the pool at poolside, as I do I see my servant Carles nearby. ::
SEBASTIAN GREY: “Hey Charles can you bring me my Iphone 12 here please?”
:: Charles nods and brings me my phone as he does, I turn the recorder on. ::
SEBASTIAN GREY: “Perfect. So I know to most if not all one victory isn’t fucking much, but, but it is too me, seeing how literally that was my debut into the world of professional wrestling and boy was it a great one. Now of course it wasn’t on my own, but with an up and coming star within the wrestling industry who’s already started to make his name a household name and that’s my partner Ricky Rodriguez...
You see many would say Ricky carried me through that match and because of Ricky we won, correction, we worked as a team, and not just that but before the match we’d already talked out our strategy plan for our match against them two nobodies and just like that we’ll do it again. You see, unlike most within the tournament we have one goal in mind and that’s winning the Margarita Mix, winning the Mix and then taking on the team of Them No Good Bastards, yes them twats Bobby Bourbon and his partner Thunder Knuckles…
What a pathetic name that one has…
Quite silly to be honest, Thunder Knuckles, sounds like a damn character from the video game Sonic the hedgehog, but enough about them two for the Margarita Mix isn’t about them now is it…”
:: I Pause the recorder for a second as I do, I place it up on the edge of the pool as I dunk my head into the water. Once I re-emerge from under the water I grab my Iphone 12 and continue recording my promo for the OCW’s Margarita Mix. ::
SEBASTIAN GREY: “That felt good, I know, I know a lot of you are probably scared I might drop this damn thing in my pool here, though here’s the thing it’s not like I couldn’t just go buy another, plus why the fuck would I give to shits that you care anyways, right? So let's get back to Rick and yours truly here. So it appears we’re facing off against that twat Tara Fenix…
:: I pause for a second, looking at the disdain on Charles’ face from what I had just said about the female combatant known as Tara Fenix, before continuing on. ::
SEBASTIAN GREY: “You’re right, Charles, my apologies to Ms. Tara, that was so uncalled for and just wrong of me to say, anyways where was I, oh yea… we’re facing off against Tara and her partner with the Bizzaro like mask on Victor Malvado… I swear it’s like we couldn’t have been given a better team to go up against, a team made up of two Superheroes. We have Fenix and Malvado… such an interesting pairing, unlike my partner and I who just breathe greatness...
Sure, sure we may have our work cutout for us come Wednesday night, but it surely can’t be any worse then what we’ve already gone up against. I mean after all it is the team of Malvado and Tara who beat the team of "Dadbod" David Barker & Vicky Stone, two ya… let’s not even go there… I mean we could, but we won't for the sake of the fans… Well for now I’m off to enjoy this gorgeous pool of mine and this gorgeous day.
:: I say as I place my Iphone 12 backup on the edge of the pool deck as I drop back, creating a large splash as I do so as my entire body is submerged in the gorgeous clear colored water. ::
The scene opens up on during the morning at a local elementary school, and even though it is still summertime, like most schools, classes have already begun for this one. A red Tesla Model X pulls up to the visitor parking lot and once parked, the driver side door swings open. Out of it steps Vanessa Jimenez, translator and manager for The Malvado Brothers. She wears a tight black dress and matching high heels as well as a ‘resting bitch face’ that lets you know just the kind of mood she is in. She slams the door closed and heads towards the main doors, talking to herself as she does. Vanessa: I’m 25 years old and I don’t have any damn kids of my own so for me to get called by the principal asking me to come to his office because “my children” are in trouble is beyond ridiculous. When I signed up for the job I expected some weird stuff to go down sure, but these two twin idiots are really pushing my limits. We should be getting ready for the next round fights in the Margarita Mix but no, instead I’m summoned to clean up whatever mess they have now made. She gets stopped by the security guard who asks her for identification before letting her in the building. Once inside she goes straight for the office, she gets asked by the receptionist if she can help her, but Vanessa walks right by her and then opens the principal’s office who jumps from his chair half scared. Vanessa: Where are they?! The fat, balding old man adjusts his belt underneath his big belly then his jacket before answering. Principal: You can’t just barge in here Ms. Malvado, there are- Vanessa: I’m not a Malvado first of all, they are also not children, they are grown ass men. Principal: They are? Oh, that makes better sense now. I don’t look at the ages, I just got their names and the number of their parents to call and that’s it. I’m guessing they are here for one of the adult programs? Vanessa: yes, ESL. Principal: Ah yes, English as a Second Language, of course. Well one of them is in the conference room next door, Victor I believe. Vanessa: And what is he in for? Principal: Fighting during class. Vanessa: Of Course, excuse me. Vanessa walks out before he can say another word, and heads to the conference room. She walks in and sees Victor leaning against the wall, looking out the window at the kids who are on recess. He looks towards the door where Vanessa is and we can see that his mask is partially thorn, his shirt, which happens to be a Tara Fenix T-shirt, has also been tore up a bit. We can see him smile as he comes around to greet Vanessa, but the smile is quickly wiped away by a smack upside the head. Victor: ¡Oye! ¡¿Que te pasa?! Vanessa: Why are you fighting your brother?! I don’t care what he said about Tara, you should be spending all your time and energy on to your current opponents for the Margarita Mix! Victor: ¿Quién? ¿Sebastian Grey and Ricky Rodriguez? ¡Por favor! Vanessa: They are your next opponents, not Hector, but if you get past these two, then maybe you get you wish and you two can settle this in the ring… But First… Vanessa: Oh that’s not going to be a problem? At all? Victor: Atol. Vanessa: Right, explain. Vanessa: You really believe that? Vanessa: Very nice, but what about Ricky? Vanessa: I love it, glad you got your head in the game again. Now let’s go find your brother so we can see where his head is at. Victor mumbles something in Spanish that Vanessa ignores as they walk out.

The interior of that local club was popping. Loud, pulsating music filled the air while lights of various colors flickered wildly. The drink was flowing free, as was anything else you may be looking for. Because of that, bodies pressed together, rather suggestively dancing with one another.
More importantly though, over at the bar is where a familiar young man was in the middle of talking up an unknown brunette female. From her laughter and relaxed feeling she was giving off, it seemed as if everything was going well. That is until he noticed the person filming him. An exchange of inaudible dialogue occured between the two and Ricky began making his way towards the cameraman.
Motioning for him to follow, Ricky led the man outside where his Margarita Mix partner, Sebastian Grey, had just arrived. The two slapped hands with one another before bumping shoulders and cheering out.
Sebastian: You ready to go in there and show them how to really party?
Ricky: Oh hell yeah man, but first: business is business.
Turning to face the camera, Ricky radiated confidence with every word he spoke.
Ricky: Y'all already heard what my boy Sebastian here had to say. Now you get me. See, what you see here? Between the two of us? Confidence in its rawest form. That's something that you two, Tara and Victor, sorely lack. We've taken this team thing a step further. We've been kickin it outside of the ring and that's done nothin but make us that much better of a team.
Look at us. Look at Sebastian. This man is a fuckin beast. Ready to just lunge at and take someone's head right off their shoulders. Now Tara, neither you or Victor have that trait, that skill. I'm not saying you two aren't strong or nothing but compared to Sebastian here? Well, you don't compare. You call him inexperienced and I call him dangerous. He wants that success as badly as I do and he's more than willing to do whatever it takes to get it.
Sebastian: You're goddamn right I am.
Ricky: We are on one hell of a roll, both as a tag team and as individuals. That's not gonna stop. We're takin this match and everyone after it. Now, it might not be the most popular thing in the world but by hook or crook, we're goin to do just that. That's what makes us better. That's what puts us in the position to thrive and that's just what we're goin to do.
Look what we did out there against Father Thyme and Billy Young. They thought they had us. They thought the silly little pairin of them two was gonna be enough to take US down. But who advanced? Who picked up that win? Who is one step closer to takin this whole fuckin tournament? We are. There's nothin Tara and Victor can do to stop us. Sure, they're gonna try but let's be real here. It's all for nothin.
The confidence began to grow more and more into arrogance with every word Ricky spoke. It wasn't just on his end either, but with Sebastian as well.
Ricky: We're comin in hot, ladies and gentlemen. And not just metaphorically either. See, not only are we better in that ring, we're better out of it too. If this was ancient Greece or somethin? They'd carve statues of Sebastian, talkin bout whatta godsend he really is. And me? They'd tell the stories of my parties. Never a dull moment around here.
But Tara and Victor? Poor Tara looks like she never got out of her scene phase. All them dye jobs gonna fry her hair and then what? Better stick to pushin those boat shows cause that's the only way people really pay you any mind, y'know? And that's okay, we can't all be the social butterflies that we are.
And Victor. When I was growin up, my people always told me. Only reason a person wears a mask is if they're hidin somethin. I, for one, am curious as fuck to see just what you're hidin, Victor. Disfiguration? Deceit?
Sebastian: Dude's probably a dog face.
Ricky couldn't help but to laugh out at what Sebastian had said. Nodding in full agreement, that smirk plastered across the features of Ricky.
Ricky: That's bout all the time we got for you all tonight. Tara. Victor. We want you two to bring in every bit of fight you can. We don't want there to be any excuses when we get that three count and continue on in the Margarita Mix.
Sebastian: With what we got here? There isn't a team in this Mix that can hang with us. Not inside the ring or outside of it. We'll be seeing you two real soon.
Nodding in agreement, Ricky laughed out as the two of them waved off the cameraman. The scene slowly faded out as the two turned their backs to the camera and made their way back inside.
