“Growth in this industry doesn’t come quickly, nor for cheap.”
“When I took the position of Chief Financial Officer of Online Championship Wrestling, I knew the task of relaunching a brand many considered dead in the water would be daunting, even one as long-lived and famous as ours. It would prove to be a grueling, time-consuming process. All of us behind the scenes the last several months spent days on end strung out from caffeine, sifting through DM’s, phone messages, emails. The production and ring crew working double shifts to upgrade equipment and facilities. For 3 months, everybody in and out of the ring at OCW put in efforts so tirelessly, it disrupted schedules, time with friends and family, and cost A LOT of capital to get this dream of ours restarted.”
“The noise we made at House of Cards and the months proceeding it, and the overall euphoria everybody involved with the brand felt that night; it made all that effort and stress worth it!”
“OCW is moving forward at a pace even I couldn’t imagine, and from the bottom of my heart to everyone involved, you did a tremendous job. Most of the credit belongs to you folks.”
*pause to sip some water*
“House of Cards was a considerably greater success all around than any of us had expected. Between the social media buzz, PPV buy-rates, and attendance, it was a smash. Xavier Lux continues to be the face of the organization with another successful defense of the OCW World Title. Thaddeus Duke spent months bringing the hype, and more than backed it up with a blockbuster debut. OCW originals like Outcast, Dylan Thomas, Zybala, and Ed continue to be pillars in this company, and the new acquisitions on the roster bring a mix of new blood and familiar greats this company needs.”
“Overall, it was the perfect start to a new era in the company. But that’s all it is…a start!”
*Tony takes a moment to think*
“We still have a long way to go before OCW achieves all its goals, and the next few months will be a barometer whether or not we survive and thrive, or not.Financially, thanks it increased revenue and the company’s involvement at UGWC’s WrestleStock (appreciate Unified’s support and hospitality in Arizona.) OCW has virtually wiped out all outstanding debts, and has taken steps to upgrade facilities and equipment. We’re talking top to bottom overhauls of: film and audio equipment, facilities, editing and post production, and advertisement. We’ve also reached out to individuals who we feel will bring added exposure and benefit to the brand outside the ring.”
“But evolution takes time and money. Moving too fast or slow could end all the progress this company has made. That’s why it’s imperative that none of us at Online Championship Wrestling forget the big picture. The next few months are the proving grounds.”
“Under The Lights and the Margarita Mix tournament will determine the future of the company. With more outside eyes and interest in us, not to mention increased demands and expectations, now’s not the time to relax too much, let down our guards. Each and every employee, from ownership and the executive committee, to all our professionals on and off the canvas, has to maintain the same standards they did at HOC, and improve on them. Myself, not exception.”
“And from what I’ve seen of what we can do…that’s not a problem I us having at all!”
*another drink*
“So, to every wrestler on the payroll; keep up the stellar effort. Every Tweet and Instagram, every autograph session or victory in and out of an OCW ring makes us all look better. Fans, journalists and critics keep us plugged in with ideas, reports, concerns and criticisms. Even our biggest detractors benefit us, whether they know or admit it.”
“And to those waiting patiently (or not) to jump on our roster, House of Cards wasn’t the end of the recruiting spree. Though we are now suspending applications again until we’re pleased the upgrades we are making are to the highest standards, it is inevitable more than a handful more wrestlers are going to have a sit down with me to talk turkey. Believe that!”
“The road for a bit longer is going to be rough. More long, even sleepless nights. More stress and more growing pains. But that pain is giving us gains, and they’ll keep getting richer as time goes by.”
“Thanks for having me aboard. It’s an honor to have this position, and a crew that’s willing to go out of there way to make me look good when I run my mouth on Twitter.”
He turns to leave…*snaps his fingers*
“Almost forgot to mention; everybody in OCW should check on their travel status. In October, there’s a damn good chance we’re going on a working European vacation. Nothing pinned down yet, but…”
*looks at his Union Jack pin on his suit lapel*
“London is fantastic around Halloween, if not a bit chilly.”
