Grace Rimmer, via order of OCW GM Who’Re, announced this past Wednesday on PILEDRIVER that Vhodka Black (formerly Vhodka Marie) would be returning to an OCW ring at House of Cards to defend her TransAtlantic Championship.
Now, that’s big news in and of itself.
But, to add even more intrigue to the announcement...Vhodka Black will be issuing an OPEN CHALLENGE.
Open as in...anybody can answer. Contracted or free agent. Retired or active. Wrestler or male stripper. It doesn’t matter!
So, being the astute wrestling fan that I am who always has his pulse on the industry...I figured I’d toss down a few names that might show up at House of Cards to take Vhodka Black up on her challenge.
1) Mack O’Connor
This has to be the most obvious choice. Mack LOVES The TransAtlantic Championship. So much so, he’s been fighting to get it back ever since Greg (assistant to Who’Re) stole it from his house nearly two months ago. At Quarantined, Mack thought he’d reclaimed his treasured prize after defeating Sara Syren. Unfortunately for O’Connor, Vhodka Marie made her debut, shocking the OCW legend and exiting Quarantined with his coveted prize. Mack’s got unfinished business. He’s already said, publicly, he’ll be at House of Cards. You’d be a fool to believe his sights are on anything other than that TransAtlantic Championship.
2) The Incredible One
Personally, I don’t see this happening. Or, should I say, allowed. TIO is enemy number one in OCW these days after costing OCW their legendary Tag Team Titles. The tension between TIO and OCW staff is at an all-time high. TIO is determined to work his way on the roster...by any means necessary. Showing up and competing against Vhodka Black would be an accelerated method to reach his goal. The only obstacle I see (and its a major one) is OCW being on anything other than HIGH ALERT for a TIO appearance. I doubt he’ll make it inside the building, let alone between those ropes when Vhodka lays out her challenge.
3) Joe Montuori
Who? That’s okay. Don’t feel stupid if you don’t know the name. I didn’t until OCW and Fight NY (formerly OPW) started affiliating. But, he’s thrown some threats Vhodka’s way in regards to her TransAtlantic Title reign. In fact, when the open challenge was announced on the ALMIGHTY TWITTERSPHERE it was Montuori who piped up, threatening to drive down and take the title from her. Will he make good on his threat? It would certainly be interesting if he showed up.
4) Chelsea LeClair
Again, I really, REALLY think we’re going to see LeClair in OCW at some point. It just makes too much sense. There have been so many rumors and smoke around the pairing for it not to happen, at some point. Could this be the moment when LeClair returns to OCW and adds another title to her ever-thickening resume? Good chance this is the one.
5) Zolton
Zolton’s appeared in OCW a few times. He’s always been on the verge of making an impact...but never quite ascended beyond a very initial basis, in terms of OCW notoriety. Zolton is talented. He’s got what it takes to be successful in OCW. Could this be the moment when Zolton breaks through, wins a championship, and makes a lasting impact in OCW? I mean, there’s a chance.
These are just five options...but, in reality, it could be anybody. And, if I were a betting man, I’d wager it’ll be somebody we aren’t even talking about...IF it isn’t Mack O’Connor.
One thing is for sure, Vhodka Black is one hell of a competitor and a great champion. Throwing out an open challenge to any and everybody takes guts. Hats off, Vhodka. Good luck to you at House of Cards!
