Hope you're all having a splendiferous 4th of July. Me? Oh, I'm just hanging out backstage at the OCW Arena, hoping to locate enough change so I can purchase a few snacks out of the vending machine.
Anyway, I figured I'd drop some items of interest I've heard floating around backstage.
House of Cards is 3 weeks away. The news is certainly picking up.
- The waiting list continues to grow. I'm not sure Scott Syren is #1 anymore. Sources report the idea of Syren joining OCW has gone from 'definitely' to 'probably not'.
- Matt Meyhu continues to keep his eye on OCW. People 'in the know' feel it's only a matter of time before the OCW legend returns to the ring. The fall seems like a likely timeframe.
- Bob Grenier has gone MIA. I hear his name is no longer on 'the list'.
- Crash Rodriguez and his attorney 'Lou Pohl' are working hard to get back into OCW. Witnessing Ed Houston and TIO fight to try and earn a spot on the roster has shown them an alternative path. It seems as though it will be tough to keep Crash out.
- Sebastian Grey and OCW are no longer in talks concerning a contract.
- Tony Savage believes TIO is a part of the roster. Who'Re insists that he's not. "No" is not an option for TIO. He is determined to get back into an OCW ring.
- OCW TV has been a HUGE success. A tremendous addition to the promotion. While several show have dropped, a number of others are in production. Big names behind them. Keep an eye out for future programming.
- OCW legend Lurrr had a few interesting things to say about OCW the other day. He seems to feel he'd be too 'aggressive' for the roster. Not sure what that means. But it does tell me he's got his eye on the product.
- Pro wrestling rookie Abel Tyler is gaining steam with the administration. There could be some news regarding his involvement with OCW very soon.
- The House of Cards concept continues to push OCW talent to make deals in an effort to protect what's theirs, claim what they desire. Some unlikely alliances are close to being formed.
- Will Thaddeus Duke manage to form an alliance or will he be on an island by himself at House of Cards? I'm told he feels pretty confident about securing everything he needs to be successful on July 25th.
- Strong rumors indicate Vhodka Black (formerly Marie) will return to OCW at House of Cards to defend her TransAtlantic Championship in an open challenge.
- Speaking of 'challenges' Harold Jones insists Kevin Spacey will show up and face him at House of Cards. I have my doubts.
- If Outcast is able to hold off Dylan Thomas, look for him to receive an OCW Title shot at the next PPV event.
- If Outcast loses and Peter Vaughn wins, look for Vaughn to get the OCW Title shot at the next PPV event.
- If both Vaughn and Outcast lose...it seems Dylan Thomas would be in line for the OCW Title shot.
- Survivor Season 3 is still in the works.
- I'm told Who'Re is happy with the 8 currently on OCW's roster and has no intention of pulling any contracts post-House of Cards. Of course, things can always change.
- Two major pro wrestling stars have been in talks with the company about a potential debut. I can't say any more at this time.
- Krayzie/Byson vs. B.O.B. (Thunder Knuckles and Robbie Bourbon) is a first of its kind match for OCW. No plan on if Who'Re is looking to make this a routine deal. It could just be a one-off used to help revive OCW to a wide audience.
- Xavier Lux is proving to be a strong, initial OCW Champion. Ratings are up. Interest is up. He seems to be the type who can carry a promotion.
- Outcast's work has impressed OCW management.
- Peter Vaughn's new attitude has given the former 'joke' an edge backstage. His co-workers are beginning to see him as a threat. The 'Janitor' is very close to working his way into OCW Title conversation.
- Fans are eager to see Mike Zybala FINALLY win gold in OCW. I'm told an online petition has begun, begging OCW to give Zybala a championship. So far, 69 signatures have been obtained. Relax. It's still early.
- OCW has also been extremely impressed with Dylan Thomas. They weren't exactly sure what they were getting when he signed...but he's exceeded their 'best case' scenario.
- Brim poses a legit threat to Xavier Lux. A few in management were against putting Brim in the Main Event, out of fear he could seriously injure what looks to be OCW's biggest star, at this point.
- Ed Houston remains as popular as ever. His merchandise sales rival those of Xavier Lux. You just can't keep the kid down!
- Thaddeus Duke has brought more eyes and attention to OCW's product than any signing in recent history. Since his arrival, about 10 days ago, so much has happened. A true win for GM Who'Re. The hype is real. Will it translate into in-ring success? I'm told he seems to be adapting to OCW's structure with 'seamless ease'.
- The Tag Titles are getting some discussion during management meetings. As is the Margarita Mix. If something combining the two were to happen, we should get an announcement during Hosue of Cards.
- Tony the Spider keeps asking for money to gamble with in the OCW casino. No word on if OCW will lend him a line of credit.
- Sounds like OCW will be 'hitting the road' for it's next PPV. Rumors suggest a setting that can hold 'as many people as possible'. OCW is ready to celebrate its return to prominence. Two ppvs in a row in the OCW Arena is one too many, for OCW traditionalists.
- Twice OCW and Jason Cashe have agreed to a deal. Twice it's fallen through at the last second. Will the third time be the charm?
- Lilith and OCW had talks earlier this week. They seem to have stalled. A snag appears to be Sarah Twilight.
- Logan's name has come up, also
- Interest for House of Cards is up 55% over interest for Quarantined at this point in the process.
I guess that's it. Feel like I could keep going but...ya gotta stop at some point, even if I'm posting this on the day with over indulgence is celebrated.
Have a great 4th, everyone! Week 2 begins at midnight tonight!
