Vincent Langston is the most recent induction into the OCW Hall of Fame.
An honor well deserved.
I, the 40 year old high school intern, can’t help but notice he’s also the most recent name to be added to the list. Which, brings me to a subject I feel needs to be expounded upon.
The older names on this list losing luster due to a simple yet unavoidable lack of knowledge.
So, in this article I’m going to be making a case for 5 names on the Hall of Fame ballot. A case for why they should be in.
1 – Jin Royale
I feel like this shouldn’t even be a topic. Jin Royale, during his era, was the Syren/Meyhu/Lurrr/Scorpion of his generation. When Dean sold OCW to Josh Allen and Allen re-branded the fed under the ‘Omega’ banner, Jin Royale emerged as his star. And, when Dean took OCW back over a year later, Jin Royale entered and won the OCW Championship for a second time. Royale was, quite simply, dominant during his time in the fed.
2 – PerZag
Let me get this out of the way. I think PerZag is going to make the Hall of Fame. It’s just a matter of time. However, I can’t help but get ‘itchy’ when I see other names jump the Enthralla from Benalla. PerZag is Andy Murray 2.0. He entered OCW as a true rookie. He rose the ranks, learning under Syren and Pryde while in Operation Zero. He’s won just about every belt OCW has to offer, including the OCW Title.
3 – Jason Stone
If Jin Royale was his era’s Scott Syren then Jason Stone was Silverfreak. Jason Stone was a tremendous wrestler who would have won multiple OCW titles had it not been for Jin Royale being his ally and, by that rationale, standing in his way. Once Omega closed and returned to its Online format, Stone would never return. If he had, perhaps he would have won a second OCW Title instead of Royale. Who’s to say?
4 – Andrew Logan
Andrew Logan gets overlooked due to most of his damage taking place during the infamous ‘Omega’ era. With names like El Linchador, Jin Royale, and Jason Stone dominating, Andrew Logan was able to rise up and capture the OCW Championship. Logan made his return to the ring last year in OCW’s Manifest Destiny 2 tournament, defeating Chelsea LeClair in the finals. If this were based on talent alone, Andrew Logan would already be in.
5 – Everlast
How much does longevity count? That’s a legit question. Everlast’s stay in OCW was brief. Not his fault. The company went on hiatus a few months into his tenure. But, man, what a few months he enjoyed. Everlast entered and won his first few matches. He then threw his hat in the ring, entering OCW’s 30 person Rumble. Everlast would win, outlasting names like Silverfreak, Shadow Stalker, Jay Cee, and Logan Caine. Everlast would cash in his Rumble victory by defeating Shadow Stalker for the OCW Championship a month later. He would never lose the belt, nor a match. And, unlike most OCW vets, he would not return when OCW reopened after hiatus. The man retired an undefeated OCW Champion.
So, just making a case. I’m not saying the names missing from this list aren’t worthy. These are simply a few names I think people should know more about before casting a ballot during the next HOF voting process.
Anyway, that’s it from this 40 year old intern. Catch you all later!
