Mike Best has confirmed to Online Championship Wrestling that he will not be in attendance of tonight’s episode of Monday Night Massacre. Only the third show not attended by the former OCW Champion since signing with the company in March, the champion cited medical seasons for his absence from tonight’s broadcast.
After further damaging an already reaggravated rotator cuff injury at Redacted, Michael Best had a procedure to repair the damage with an estimated recovery period of 6-8 weeks. However, Best is scheduled to face Mack O’Connor in a rematch for the OCW Championship at Declassified and has confirmed that he will be medically cleared ahead of that date.
While medical reasons are cited for his absence tonight, rumors are brewing that the real reason behind Best’s decision not to appear are related to the recent public release of the OCW contracts. Best’s deal nets him only $1,000 for an appearance on the show, though an uncomfortable public attempt to renegotiate those terms with Mike Zybala has been met with silence.
The 51% owner of HOTv told OCW officials that he planned to be present for next week’s episode of Massacre, pending clearance from his medical team, but we expect that further contract talks will ultimately determine whether or not he appears.
