Home. It was something new for Lilith. She’d had places to live before, the orphanage, a cargo ship, and the dangerous streets of Los Angeles but she’d never had a place to call home, until now. To have people who genuinely cared about her made this experience the best of her entire life. The exceptionally beautiful brunette excitedly tosses her shopping bags down onto her bed and takes Sarah’s hands in her own. Her eyes bright and big as she smiles at the young redhead. She was finally going to get to see what was in Selene’s shop, and more importantly she was going to learn all about her best friend.
Lilith: I am soooooooo excited for this, Sarah! I know you said that she DOESN'T sell sweeties buttttttt you being all secretive about it til right meow makes me think that it actually IS a sweet shop and you just want it to be a surprise?
She smiles big at her best friend, Teddy in her other hand. Sarah laughs a little as she leads Lilith out into the living room to the sofa.
Sarah: I’m serious though, it’s not a sweet shop. You’ll see it in a few minutes. But I guess before we go downstairs, I should probably tell you the stuff about me you’ve been asking. It’s … not great stuff though, just warning you now.
Lilith smiles sweetly at her friend, placing Teddy gently onto her lap.
Lilith: Sarah, whatever it is you knows Imma be here for you… Teddy will be too. I mean… unless you're like a werewolf or something cos that'd be pretty scary but…
Sarah laughs interrupting Lilith.
Sarah: Werewolf? No haha. But, I mean I guess you weren’t TOO far off. I’ll get to that though … the bad stuff is more about the place I lived before here.
Lilith quirks a brow at her friend.
Lilith: Sarahhhhhhhh… whatever it is I'm sure it's not that bad… you said you didn't live in an orphanage…
Lilith didn't mean to belittle Sarah's bad time, it was just, to her, nothing was worse than living in an orphanage. To Lilith that was like living in literal hell.
Sarah: You know, I might have been better off in an orphanage. I lived at home with both of my parents. But they didn’t really care about me … or my sister. We’d get beatings pretty often. That’s why I need to get Rachel out of there. Selene has been trying for a while now …
The look on Sarah’s face was one of sadness as she thought about the hell her sister must have still been enduring while she was here living it up and making friends.
Lilith: Your… parents hit you and your sister?!
Lilith's eyes fill up with tears as she looks at her friend in shock and disbelief.
Lilith: Are you actually serious?! Sarah… if that's true we gotta go get her! I… ummmm… I'll help you. I don’t know how but I will!
Sarah looked as though she was going to burst into tears at any moment. She couldn’t do anything but reach over and hug Lilith as tightly as she ever had. What Lilith had just said to her meant the world to the young redhead. This was her only way of showing that right now.
Lilith: Nope! NOPE!!! NOT AGAIN!!! NOT AGAIN!!!
Lilith stands up and runs into her room, leaving Sarah behind on the sofa. Several minutes later the young brunette girl returns, a packed bag in hand and a baseball bat over her shoulder, which she'd found in the room.
Lilith: Where is she, Sarah?! Imma go get her! I know what it's like to be treated mean by grown ups and imma NOT stand back whilst bad stuffs happens to my bestest friend and her sister!
Sarah stands up from the sofa, tears streaming down her cheeks as she smiles appreciatively at Lilith. She reaches out her hand and Lilith takes it, looking at her and waiting for them to go collect Rachel.
Sarah: It’s not that simple … I’ve tried. I just … I need to keep training and I know we could get her, or maybe Selene can finally get the courts to grant her custody?
She was babbling with a false hope as she tries to convince her best … and only friend not to charge into danger. Lilith nods her head as she throws her bag and baseball bat to the side. She quickly grabs Sarah and wraps her arms around her, cuddling her tightly.
Lilith: Okayz, Sarah, if that's what you think is bestest. But just know that when you DO think it's time to go get her imma be right behind you. You're stuck with me… forevers!
Sarah remains there just hugging Lilith and she sighs, somehow feeling so much more secure just being there with her. She rests her head on Lilith’s shoulder and smiles.
Sarah: That’s good news. Couldn’t imagine a better person to be stuck with.
Lilith nods her head as the two finally part, but Lilith takes Sarah's hand in her own.
Lilith: Yeppers, besides… if your sister is anything like you I'm sure we'd be super good friends anyway.
Sarah smiles, nodding as she wipes the tears away from her face. Trying not to think about these things anymore, she attempts to move on to something a little less depressing.
Sarah: Maybe we should go see the shop then? Selene won’t mind, I work down there a bunch anyway.
Lilith gasps as she looks at Sarah, extremely happily, her mood and attitude had already completely changed from just a few minutes ago.
Lilith: You sell American sweets too?!
Sarah shakes her head, smiling.
Sarah: Not exactly …
She reaches up to her neck, pulling a silver chain out from behind the collar of her tee shirt to reveal her sterling silver pentacle charm. She holds it for a moment to show it to Lilith.
Lilith: That's a pretty star, Sarah.
Lilith smiles looking at what she assumes is nothing more than a simple star pendant.
Lilith: I've never owned any jewellery. Oooooooooo is that what Selene sells? I wonder if she'll let me have one?
Sarah’s smile intensifies as she takes Lilith by the hand, leading her down to the shop. It was closed now, but of course, Sarah had a key.
Sarah: Some of what she sells is jewellery … of sorts. I think it’ll be better for you just to see for yourself.
Sarah unlocks the shop and heads inside, turning on the lights and inviting Lilith to come inside. Once the young brunette was inside, Sarah locked the door and made sure the sign still remained as “Closed.” Before Lilith’s eyes were indeed pendants and jewellery, as well as candles, incense, various stones and gems, a bunch of odd herbs and liquids and of course books. Lots and lots of books on the occult, magic and of course … witchcraft.
Lilith: Ohhhhhhhh! Mummy Selene is a hippy?! Yeah I saw something similar to this on TV once. They had a lot more flowers then though… I guess there's a flower shop down the street? Makes sense her not selling them too.
Lilith smiles looking around, not understanding what she was actually looking at, at all.
Sarah: Hippy?
Sarah laughs loudly. She’d never heard anyone call Selene a hippy before.
Sarah: I guess that is one way of looking at it. But no, Lilith … she’s a witch, so am I.
Lilith blinks at Sarah for a moment, letting out a nervous laugh.
Lilith: Oh haha, Red Fur! VERY funny! Pfffffft! As if you think I'm silly enough to believe that. I know they're as make believe as vampires… and ghosts… and Irish people! JUST KIDDING about that last one by the way! I know THEY are real.
Sarah folds her arms and looks insulted by Lilith’s response.
Sarah: I’m not joking. I’m a witch, Selene has been teaching me.
Lilith face slowly starts to turn white as she looks at Sarah completely straight faced, which was a rare look for Lilith.
Lilith: Sarah… you’re my bestest friend… promise me you aren't lying?
The redhead walks to the back of the shop which was obscured by a large purple and silver curtain. This area wasn’t meant for customers. Sarah invites Lilith to have a look. Behind the curtain is what is referred to as a channeling or invoking room. On the ground, drawn is a pentagram, which Lilith notices is exactly what Sarah was wearing around her neck. At each point of the five pointed star is a different candle, all of them burning as they are ever burning flames. Symbols are marked outside of the pentagram which represented Earth, Air, Fire, Water and Spirit. And lastly, in the center of the pentagram is a book of spells which was opened, displaying spells and verses that Lilith would not have understood. Sarah looks over at her best friend.
Sarah: Do you still think I’m lying?
Lilith's eyes were now huge as her whole body shook uncontrollably, her face white as a sheet. She takes a few steps backwards, staring at Sarah and accidentally bumps into something, hearing it smash onto the floor as she too trips and falls.
Lilith: STAY AWAY FROM ME!!!
Lilith desperately scrambles to her feet and runs to the door she'd just come through, desperately trying to get out but the handle wouldn't budge. Then she remembered Sarah had locked her inside.
Lilith: I knew this was all too good to be true… I KNEW IT!!! Please don't eat me. I don't want to die and… AND I bet it'd taste really yucky anyway!
Sarah doesn’t understand why Lilith is freaking out so much as she approaches her … well at least a few moments ago her best friend. Lilith throws a book at her trying to get her to keep her distance.
Sarah: Lilith calm down! Why are you running away from me? I’m not going to hurt …
Sarah ducks as a book is thrown passed her.
Sarah: LILITH! STOP! I am not going to hurt you. Why would I do that? Please … calm down!
Lilith wasn't really listening as she kept trying to force open the door throwing herself into it, panicking like crazy. Had she been bigger and stronger she'd have succeeded in doing so.
Lilith: I've seen the movies… I even read the stories! Witch invites nice young girl into her home, fattens her up and BOOM! The next thing she knows she's being thrown into an oven and turned into a pie!
While Lilith was busy trying to break down the door and having a fit, Sarah took the opportunity to make her way over to the dark haired beauty and she wraps her arms around Lilith in a hug and the brunette screams.
Sarah: No! No! It’s okay. I promise it’s okay!
For a wicked witch who wanted to eat her Sarah sure did give her good hugs, Lilith thought to herself as she felt herself calm down and soothe in Sarah's embrace.
Lilith: You promise… you won't eat me?
Sarah rubs her hands up and down Lilith’s back just to continue calming her down. She stares into Lilith’s beautiful green eyes with her own emerald irises.
Sarah: I promise you that I will never hurt you. You are my best … well my only friend. Just like you said earlier … you’re stuck with me forever.
Lilith believed her, but she still had to check.
Lilith: What about Mommy Selene? Will SHE eat me? Good going Lilith, finally get a Mommy and she ends up eating you! Pfffffft!
Sarah went from having a serious face to flat out laughing.
Sarah: Of course not! I think you’ve seen too many movies in that orphanage of yours.
Lilith: Soooooooo you two are NICE witches… like Sabrina? Not mean ones who take off their face and turn into big yucky mouse looking things?
Sarah had no idea what Lilith was talking about, but she nods her head anyway.
Sarah: I guess you could say that. I mean, we’re not going to hurt anybody … especially not you. It’s just you and me against the world. I think that’s why we found each other. I think it was on purpose. I don’t think it was an accident at all.
Lilith cuddles into Sarah again, just doing so made her calm and relaxed. She then finally steps away from her and looks at her sweetly.
Lilith: Sarah… Imma ask you something and you gotta be super one hundred percent honest with me, okayz?
Sarah nods her head, but is confused.
Sarah: Okay?
Lilith: Does Selene know Hagrid? Cos if so I would reallyyyyyy like to meet him! He seems like such a nice guy!
Sarah blinks a few times, even more confused now.
Sarah: What the hell is a Ha… Hagrid?
Lilith: Ummmmm… he's the big guy with the beard who lives in a hut and has a flying motorbike. I think he has a Scottish accent too… hmmmmm… he has some kinda accent? Maybe she doesn't actually cos now that I think about it that place is actually in England. I'm not sure what the American one is called…
Sarah is still HIGHLY confused here.
Sarah: Is … this from a movie?
Lilith: Well… I mean… yeah but with you two ACTUALLY being witches and proving that they're REAL I figured it's probably like some kinda based on truths kinda thinggy.
Sarah: Okay. No, what you see in the movies is not real. So none of that exists. It’s just … movies. Speaking of that, maybe we can go watch one?
She smiles excitedly, eager to spend time with Lilith. Lilith was still far too busy looking at her surroundings in amazement.
Lilith: I mean… I'd love to… but I just got SO many questions, Sarah!
Lilith notices a bunch of bottles which she immediately thinks are potions and looks at her best friend curiously.
Lilith: Do love potions exist?
Sarah chuckles.
Sarah: Potions? No. Potions aren’t even a thing. Those are just ingredients for spellcasting. Now love spells, sure that can happen. But Selene says doing things like that are harmful and come with a big price.
Lilith nods her head slowly.
Lilith: Sooooooo you'd never actually cast a spell on m--- I mean… someone? You'd never do that?
Sarah tilts her head a bit, still wondering why Lilith would think the worst of her. They’d only known each other a few days, but they’d been through a lot together in that short time.
Sarah: I’m still learning, really. And you aren’t supposed to use magic on other people because bad things can happen if you do.
Lilith: Ohhhhh okayz, I gotcha. So… what exactly DO you cast spells on if you can't do it on other people? Can you make... like… stuff appear outta nowhere and teleport us places and… do all the spells they do in Harry Potter?
Sarah laughs some more, shaking her head.
Sarah: No … pretty much none of the stuff you see on TV. Usually we only cast spells for ourselves, or each other when it’s for a good reason. Like protection, or luck. Magic for other people is okay when it’s for a good reason …. I guess it’s kinda like prayers for religious people.
She shrugs her shoulders.
Lilith: Can you shapeshift into animals?
Sarah blinks again.
Sarah: No …. Seriously most of that stuff is fake that you see in movies.
Lilith nods her head, acting like she understood fully, but really she was still completely mind boggled on all of this.
Sarah: But I mean, there is a thing I’ve been practicing. It’s why everything is set up back where I took you before. You wanna see?
Lilith: You're going to show me magic right now?!
Sarah: Well, I’m gonna try. I don’t think I’m that good at this spell though so don’t be disappointed if nothing happens.
Lilith: It's going to be nice magic though, right? No scary stuff, at all?
Sarah takes Lilith’s hand and smiles.
Sarah: No, nothing scary. Just something for fun … if it even works.
Lilith: Okayz, sure! Just checking though… this doesn't got like the potential to go wrong and like do something bad to you or catch the shop on fire or something though, right?
Sarah shakes her head, laughing.
Sarah: No. It’s just a simple thing, just so you can see this big “hoorah” that you’re looking for.
Lilith: Oh okay that's alright then. I was just gonna say if bad stuff COULD happen you should probably give me Mummy Selene’s number so I can call her if I need to. But if we're totally safe and fine… lead the way, Red.
Lilith smiles brightly. Sarah leads her back through the shop, grabbing a few items along the way. They return to the channeling room and Sarah has Lilith take a seat on the floor outside of the pentagram. Sarah also has a seat on the floor as she prepares her ingredients. Finally, she plucks a stray hair from herself and adds it to the mixture. Incense burns as Sarah closes her eyes and concentrates, wanting this to work simply for Lilith’s sake as the young brunette so desperately wanted to see some magic. Some time goes by and Sarah opens her eyes.
Sarah: Okay I think we’re done.
Lilith blinks at Sarah.
Lilith: But… nothing even happened? Are you SURE witchcraft is real, Sarah…
Sarah smiles, knowing that nothing had happened yet and now was her moment where either this would work, or it would fail. Sarah runs her hands through her hair slowly and as she does so, her beautiful auburn red locks of hair transform into dark brunette hair just like Lilith’s. Sarah of course, isn’t sure if it worked or not as she couldn’t see herself.
Sarah: How about now, anything?
Lilith's jaw dropped so much it practically hit the floor. She quickly got out up off of her seat on the floor and ran over to her friend, grabbing her hands looking at them closely expecting there to be some kind of hair dye in her palms. Finding none she then puts her hands through Sarah’s hair expecting it to be wet, but it was not.
Lilith: WHAT THE HELL?!! HOW DID YOU DO THAT?!! Sarah your hair is the same colour as mine!!!
Sarah smiles brightly, happy that it had worked. What Lilith didn’t know is this was actually the first time she’d gotten it to work. The other times she’d tried, it didn’t work out.
Sarah: I … didn’t even expect anything to happen but I’m so glad that it did.
Sarah shakes her hair around playfully while laughing and just like that, her natural hair color returns to her.
Sarah: That’s a glamour spell.
She pauses for a moment.
Sarah: So, how did I look as a brunette?
She laughs, asking jokingly. Lilith just continues to stare at her friend in total disbelief at what she'd just witnessed.
Lilith: H---How did that even happen?! Is it like… a one time thing that you can ONLY do within the star thinggy? Does it disappear as soon as you step outside? Or if you wanted could you be that way FOREVER?
Sarah: Glamour usually lasts a few minutes, maybe hours or even a day or two depending on the witch casting it and how good they are. Or you can just get rid of it before that if you want.
Sarah stands up once again offering her hand to Lilith.
Sarah: But really that’s the best I can show you. The rest of the stuff is pretty boring really. Nothing like what you’re thinking about.
The two of them exit back into the main area of the shop.
Sarah: Let’s go watch a movie or do something fun. I’ll ask Selene to properly show you around tomorrow, maybe give you a necklace of your own if you want one.
She smiles warmly. Lilith nods her head, taking Sarah's hand in her own.
Lilith: Sarah… I just got ONE more question… if you can do THAT as a beginner… what can Mummy Selene do?!
Sarah: A lot more than me. I’m sure she’ll have no problem showing you. She’s going to love how interested you are.
Lilith gives Sarah a look as if to say “really?” but in a sarcastic way.
Lilith: Interested in all this?! Of course I am! Who WOULDN'T be?! If people only knew witches were real I bet they'd ALL be super nice to them and wanting to be them too!
Sarah: Yeah, I doubt that.
The two of them head upstairs now for a fun filled night of movies and girl time. Once upstairs they turn on the television and leave it on a random channel. The two of them go to change into pajamas and get comfortable to spend a nice evening watching some movies. In the background the news is playing on the television. At first, this does not interrupt Sarah or Lilith as they prepare themselves some snacks. But something catches Sarah’s attention as she hears a reporter in the background.
“Tujunga teen brutally attacked in attempted mugging.”
Sarah walks over to the television, grabbing the remote from beside it. She turns up the volume and listens intently as they reported live. Lilith continues to prepare the snacks for them, not knowing what was going on.
“The young teen was found just outside of her home late this evening. It is suspected she was attacked while trying to enter the home and was left for dead with serious injuries. Police believe the attacker fled before being able to take anything from the victim as all of her belongings were still in place. Because the victim is a minor, her name is not being released at this time.”
Sarah's peaceful and serene state was all but disappearing as she watched the footage. She knew that street, that house. It was clear to her that the victim was her sister, Rachel. The odds of this being some random robbery attempt were slim to none. Sarah takes the remote and THROWS it at the television, shattering it. This startles Lilith who drops the bowl of popcorn she’d just gotten for the two of them.
Lilith: Sarah? What's wrong? You see something on TV you didn't like or something?
Tears start to stream down Sarah’s face … but she wasn’t crying out of sadness. This was anger. She balls her fists and narrows her eyes. This was a side of Sarah which Lilith had not seen yet.
Sarah: He hurt Rachel … they hurt Rachel.
Lilith immediately drops everything and rushes over to Sarah, holding her by her shoulders.
Lilith: What? What do you mean? What happened, Sarah?
Sarah pulls away from Lilith, not because she didn’t want her friend near her but because she had only one thought on her mind right now … murder.
Sarah: She’s in the hospital … that piece of shit is gonna pay!
Lilith: What happened?!
Sarah snaps at Lilith, not meaning to but she was emotionally charged right now.
Sarah: What the fuck do you THINK happened? He almost killed her!
Lilith: Who did?!
Lilith gasps as she finally realizes what had happened. She too filled up with rage.
Lilith: It was… okay. Say no more, Sarah. Let's go.
The Hospital
We now fade into the interior of UCLA Medical Center. We look on as Sarah is sitting beside a hospital bed. Her sister Rachel is lying there, unconscious. Most of her entire face was bruised, her head was bandaged, blood soaking through the gauze. Her arms bruised just as badly, but nothing could be more horrific than her face having been beaten to a pulp. This was Alec's doing. The imprint of a beer bottle in Rachel's cheek told the story. Sarah holds her sister's hand, talking to her. Even though Rachel was unconscious, Sarah had to believe that somehow, she could hear her.
Sarah: I should have come for you sooner. Rachel, please believe me I have been trying for you. Selene just said you could stay with us. Please make it through this, Rachel. You'll never have to go back there again. I'm going to take care of you, like you're supposed to be.
Sarah grips Rachel's hand tightly, and she kisses her sister's forehead.
Sarah: He's never going to hurt you again, Rachel. I promise you that. He's never going to hurt you again...
Sarah looks down at her sister once more before leaving the room. Her eyes had by now lost all emotion, and the happy, peaceful teen was no more. Anger, hatred ... and evil had returned. But sometimes, you have to be evil. Sometimes there is no justice in good, and only by taking the path of darkness will it prevail.
Sarah steps back into the hallway where her best friend and confidant was nervously pacing back and forth. Lilith holds the baseball bat over her shoulder and seeing Sarah so angry only added to her own rage.
4:00am - Tujunga, California - Twilight Household
We fade back in to the interior of Sarah's former home. Upstairs in the master bedroom, Alec begins to stir. He staggers out of bed, still feeling the effects of his drunken binge the night before. He belches as he makes his way towards the door. Elizabeth rolls over.
Elizabeth: Where are you going? It's four in the morning.
Alec: I have to piss, shut up and go back to sleep.
Alec finishes up in the restroom, and as he exits the room, he looks around.
Alec: What the fuck? Elizabeth, I swear if you burnt something bitch, I'm going to come back up here and kick the shit out of you!
Alec is smelling smoke, and he slowly makes his way down the stairs. As he reaches the bottom, he is stunned to see light coming from his living room. He finally gets into the room only to see various candles, meticulously placed out around the room, all of them lit. They formed a pattern, an odd shape he'd never seen before ... A five pointed star, within a circle. Alec clenches his fists.
Alec: Somebody wants to play fucking game? Come on out mother fucker. I'll play some fucking games.
Alec steps further into the room and he never saw it coming as he was taken off of his feet in one swift motion. He hits the living room floor hard, and he he looks up to see his daughter, Sarah standing over him, she looks down at him with malice in her eyes.
Sarah: You think you would get away with it, asshole?
Alec: Oh you little bitch! You're gonna be sorry you came back here!
Sarah: They only person here who is going to be sorry is you. You piece of shit!
Alec pulls himself back to his feet and slaps Sarah across the face, he was fully ready to have a fight with his own daughter. The coward that he was. But Sarah laughs at him as he slaps her, and spits in his face.
Sarah: That all you got? You fucking pussy!
Alec is infuriated now and he balls his fist and punches Sarah in the mouth. She holds her jaw, and when she pulls her hand away, she sees a trickle of blood on her fingertips and she smirks before returning the favor with a punch of her own. She unleashes a fury on her father, repeatedly punching him. He swings punches back until suddenly out of nowhere CRRRRRACCCCKKKK! Alec hits the floor immediately as the baseball bat strikes his skull. Standing behind him is Lilith who had come to her best friend’s defense.
Lilith: YOU DON’T FUCKING TOUCH HER!!! I HATE grown ups like you! You think you're so good cos you're bigger and stronger than me… than US! NAH AH!!! NOT ANYMORE!!!
The commotion has caused Elizabeth to rush down stairs, she sees the ensuing fight and begins screaming.
Elizabeth: What are you doing? Stop it! Stop it now!!
Alec slowly starts to try and get to his feet, he’s barely conscious and Lilith swings the bat down into his skull yet again. Lilith beats him over the head with the bat several times as blood oozes from every orifice. Sarah continuously kicks him in a fit of rage despite the fact that Lilith had battered him into oblivion.
Sarah: You'll never touch her again you piece of shit! NEVER!!!
Alec was bleeding all over the place long before Sarah and Lilith would stop assaulting him. Elizabeth continues to scream, now yelling at Sarah.
Elizabeth: Look what you did! Look what you did! You bitch, I hate you, why did you come here? WHY? And you bring another little bitch with you?! Take your street friend and get the fuck out!
Sarah stands up and looks at her mother with disgust.
Sarah: Shut the fuck up! You are just as bad as he is! You never cared about me or about Rachel. She's in the fucking hospital almost DEAD and you two sleep like nothing was fucking wrong!
Sarah backhands her mother with enraged anger. Elizabeth falls to the floor and hits her head on the corner of the stairs, also now falling unconscious.
Sarah: And you will NEVER talk to my best friend like that! EVER! No more! No fucking more!
Sarah looks down at her parents and spits in total disgust. We shift to Sarah and Lilith walking away from the house. A cold, malicious evil in their eyes. In the background we see the windows of the home blow out as a blazing fire explodes from them. The house is now engulfed in flames and the sounds of sirens can be heard in the distance.
A short while later - Sarah and Lilith’s Home
Sarah and Lilith return home, their hands covered in blood. Selene was there waiting for them, worried to have found them both gone in the middle of the night. In Sarah's eyes, the cold, emotionless nature that Selene remembered when first ever meeting her. Lilith shared the same look of hatred. Selene rushes over as they come inside.
Selene: What happened? Sarah? ... Lilith? what did you do?
Sarah responds with a flat, calm voice that was eerily familiar.
Sarah: We made things right, that's all.
Selene: Tell me what happened?
Sarah: He will never hurt Rachel again.
Selene: Hurt Rachel? Oh no. Sarah you went back there? With Lilith?!
Selene sighs. Lilith just walks over to her and places her blood covered hand gently on Selene’s arm smiling oddly up at her.
Lilith: Mummy, we made the bad people go away. We can all be happiful now… once Rachel is home with us.
Selene’s expression was one of concern as she really sympathizes with the young girls, but she knew they’d done something terrible.
Selene: Go wash up, the both of you. We'll talk when you're done. Garrett is on his way, we've been worried sick.
Sarah and Lilith casually walk through the shop and upstairs to their apartment, as if they'd done nothing wrong. They get themselves washed up. Upstairs, the two of them finally share a moment of peace knowing that no one would ever hurt either of them, or those that they loved ever again. They truly were bound together now. It was just the two of them against the world.
Lilith: You okayz, Sarah? It's all over now, no one is going to hurt you ever again now. I pinky promise.
Sarah smirks as she embraces Lilith with a hug.
Sarah: Never been better. I know who I can rely on, and I won’t ever forget that.
She smiles wickedly at her friend. The two of them definitely having a bit of an attitude shift.
Lilith: I love you, Sarah…….. as a friend. Imma be here for you forever. No one will ever mess with you again… I'd claw their ugly faces off if they even thought about it!
The smile on Sarah’s face grew a bit brighter. No matter how cold she was inside to the rest of the world right now, Lilith was the only light in her life besides Rachel. She gazes into her best friend’s eyes and slowly nods.
Sarah: I would do the very same for you. I … I love you too, Lilith. Nobody will ever come between us. I promise.
Lilith looks at Sarah a little hopeful but at the same time slightly worried that she was about to say something stupid.
Lilith: Sarah? You knows how you said witchcraft stuffs was usually for good stuff… can't we just like… cast a spell of healing on Rachel? I want her home here as bad as you do. She didn't deserve that stuffs…
Sarah sighs heavily and shakes her head.
Sarah: I wish it were that easy. We can do that, but it takes time. It’s not like on TV. She’s going to need a lot of time to heal. I know she’d really enjoy meeting her new sister.
Yes, Sarah just informed Lilith that she was in fact, family to Sarah’s younger sister who Lilith hadn’t even met. But after all that Lilith had just done, she was absolutely family.
Lilith: Urghhhhh, it just makes me so freaking grrrrr and stuff knowing what he did to her. I kinda wish I'd prolonged his suffering to be honest with you… fucking asshole guy! At least he's burning in hell where he belongs now!
Sarah grins as she nods at Lilith, brushing a few stray strands of hair from the brunette’s face.
Sarah: What you’ve done for me … and Rachel … I don’t think I could ever repay you. I owe you a lot more than clothes and food.
Lilith gently places her hand on Sarah’s cheek, smiling at her lovingly.
Lilith: You've already done more than enough for me, Sarah. You've given me a home… and a family… and people I love and I got people who love me in return.
She pauses for a second looking a little sad.
Lilith: I just hopes that the police don't come and take us away and separate us. You just knows that they'll see us being in the wrong here. They're grown ups… all grown ups are bad… usually.
Sarah takes hold of Lilith’s hand, gripping it tightly.
Sarah: Selene won’t let that happen. I’m sure of it. Nobody is ever going to break us apart.
Lilith grabs Sarah and pulls her in for a hug, inhaling the smell of her hair a little bit as she cuddles her. She hopes that Sarah doesn't notice.
Lilith: Good. Cos I'm nothing without you.
Lilith steps away a little bit, holding Sarah’s hand.
Lilith: Who is Garrett by the way? Is he nice or do I… need to get the bat again?
Lilith laughs out loud but is actually quite serious.
Sarah: Garrett? Oh he’s my wrestling coach. Selene probably called him, worried. He’s fine.
Once more Sarah leans into Lilith, hugging her. She just felt so much more secure in doing so. A tingling sensation throughout her whole body that made her so calm and peaceful. If she was being honest with herself, she could stay like this forever, never letting go. Meanwhile, as Selene awaits Garrett's arrival, she sees headlights shining through the window as a car approaches and parks. After a few moments, there is a sturdy knock at the door. Selene answers to see a man standing there.
Selene: May I help you?
Man: I'm Detective Chapman with LAPD. I'm looking for a Miss ... Sarah Twilight.
Selene: She's here ... may I ask what this is about?
Det. Chapman: I just need to speak with her.
Sarah heads down the stairs with Lilith right by her side, surprised to see the man there. He looks up and notices them. Lilith gasps and is quite nervous.
Det. Chapman: One of you must be Sarah.
Sarah narrows her eyes at the man and nods, confirming that she was Sarah, wanting Lilith to be left out of this.
Det. Chapman: Tell me Sarah, where have you been this evening?
Selene interrupts.
Selene: She's been here all night. She helped me close the store and had gone to bed afterwards.
Det. Chapman: Are you sure of this?
Selene: Positive.
The detective scans the room, noticing the broken items from earlier when Lilith had tripped and fallen over it. He walks around the shop.
Det. Chapman: So what happened here tonight? Looks like someone wasn't happy.
Selene: I accidentally broke the set. Was trying to get a fly.
Det. Chapman: I see.
Just then, Garrett walks into the shop hurriedly and stops, looking on at the scene. He looks at Det. Chapman, recognizing him.
Garrett: Harold? What are you doing here?
Det. Chapman: Garrett, well I'll be damned. I haven't seen you since High School. I'm conducting a standard investigation here. But isn't it a bit late for a visit?
Garrett folds his arms, unsure of what is going on.
Det. Chapman: Now I am going to ask again, where were you this evening, Sarah?
Lilith: She was here, with me the whole time!
Lilith speaks up, desperately wanting to keep Sarah from getting into trouble.
Det. Chapman: I didn't ask you young lady, I asked Sarah.
Garrett: Harold, if they say she was here. Then she was here.
Det. Chapman: Okay Garrett. I'll leave it be for the moment. But I'll be in touch.
Det. Chapman leaves the shop, still looking around as he goes. Once he is gone, Garrett and Selene look at Sarah, who is sitting there, emotionless. And Lilith, who smiles wickedly to the extent that it was frightening. It was apparent that evil had taken form on this night. All that was good had wandered away and evil stands in its place. The light was now forever shadowed by the darkness.
It has been said that good lies within each of us. That even the most vile and despicable of all have a light hiding within them ... somewhere. When given the chance, that light will grow, and it will shine. However, when evil is allowed to fester within. It too will grow, and the ramifications of its bounds are endless. It takes but one deed to undo all else, good ... or evil.
It takes but one deed to undo all else, good ... or evil.
