"You only have power over people so long as you don't take everything away from them. But when you've robbed a man of everything, he's no longer in your power - he's free again." ~Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn
Our opening promo takes place at Greenbrook Park located in Smithville, TN. The settings of the clouds are cloudy as we can tell the scene takes place in cold weather. Several children are roaming around the playground as they take in the fun under the coldness. Located near the Merry-Go-Round is Dangerous Dan who is spinning the go-round with several children seated onboard. He is wearing a thick black jacket zipped up to the top with a hoodie over his head. Blue gloves cover his hands to keep him warm. His lower body supports a new pair of jeans with his custom logo designed on the back pockets. The children are laughing as Dan spins them around and around. A time later, another person begins spinning the go-round. Dan removes himself from the area and heads to one of the back swings. He takes a seat on the swing. His attention derives towards the oncoming camera.
“My son loves coming to the park. At three years old he enjoys spinning around and around on the merry-go-round. My favorite thing is when I place him gently in a swing and push him. His laughter brings joy to my ‘duck-face’ that I can’t help but stop him and give him a big ol' kiss. My son is my world and there is nothing that I wouldn’t do for my child.”
Dan pauses as a child runs towards him. He sweeps the little boy firmly into his arms before placing the child in a swing. He begins pushing.
“That little boy right here is my heart and soul. I would die for this kid as well as hurt anyone who caused harm to him. He lost his mother during child birth and for three years now I have been his father as well as his mother. The love this kid has for me is all the power that I need to get through each and every week away from him. I give my heart and soul into my matches so that I can make a life for the two of us. As a single dad it’s hard to be away from your child for days on end. Whenever I’m in that ring I know I have to bring my all in order to provide for us.”
The little boy, now recognized as his son, begins laughing as he utters the word ‘faster.’ Dan begins pushing him a tad bit faster, but not too fast for a three-year-old.
“Daddy…that one word brings joy to my heart. Daddy is something I take very seriously I won’t let anyone come in between my child and me. I do this job because I love what I do but I have an extra mouth to feed. I have to have power in order to sacrifice my body every week. Power is something that I earn and need for my survival in this business. There’s people who abuse their power or who think they have the power to do just about anything they desire. They’re wrong if they believe their own hype. Am I talking about a certain someone? Yes, as a matter of fact, I am.”
Dan slows down his speed as the swing now comes to a halt. He picks his son up out of the swing, gives him a hug, and rushes him along back to the merry-go-round. There another person places him on the go-round and begins pushing. Dan takes a seat at one of the nearby benches. He momentarily covers his face with his gloves, trying to bring warmth to his face.
“Bobbi…you think your power around here means anything to me? Do you even have any power? You certainly believe that you do since you believe that investing money gives you power to do as you please. I have stated my peace on the whole taking me for granted thing, but don’t take me as an underdog. I gave that up when I accomplished all I have done in my career.”
Dan rolls his eyes and releases an ‘evil’ man smile.
“Don’t feed me that crap about our past accomplishments meaning nothing. People don’t get signed in this business for doing absolutely nothing. Here’s where my ego gets in the way. Don’t let it fool you. I don’t have an ugly ego like you Bobbi. My accomplishments in my career is part of the power that I have for companies to hire me. I don’t get paid just some random sum to come aboard. I’m a hot commodity in this business Bobbi. I’ve had organization after organization asking for me to sign on the dotted lines. But yet I refuse not because of my ego…not because of my power to do so…but because of my will to be with my son. I spent the first year and a half of my son’s life working every day in GCWA, CWF, and OCW to provide for him. I needed a break and so I took it. When Dean asked me to come back, I couldn’t resist. The man helped me when my career was on the horizon. He signed me immediately after GCWA closed down. Why? Because he saw the potential in me. He knew I was a hot commodity and he knew I would be the wrestler I am today.”
The sound of a crying child is echoed into the background. Dan turns his attention as he stands to his feet to see who the child is. Concerned for his son he begins walking towards the merry-go-round. Relieved, for his sake, he identifies his son still seated on the merry-go-round. Patiently waiting for the ride to resume. The hurt child quickly recovers though and proceeds to his spot as well. As the children continue so does Dan.
“Bobbi, your arrogance is going to be your downfall. I’m going to use that against you. Have you not learned by now that when you get cocky you fail? That’s all the power I need to take you out. You may come at me and beat my ass at first, which I’m not afraid to admit to, but I’m going to be the one standing over you victorious. You see at Resurrection, I’m not going to be facing some has-been Hall of Famer in a one-on-one bout. No, I plan on being one of the two participants battling it out for all the power of the company. I plan on competing for the Central Championship. I hope you’re ready for out match Bobbi, because you’re stepping into the ring with the next OCW Central Champion. I will be a champion once Resurrection is over with Bobbi. What are you going to be after Resurrection? Another wannabe wrestler who think she deserves a title. Mario isn’t your only threat around here. I am going to show you exactly why they call me ‘dangerous’ come Massacre. Face it Bobbi…I’m better than you. Always have been and always will be. There’s a new power about to be unleashed upon OCW Bobbi. I hope you’re ready for it. I’m sure you can see it can’t you? The ENDD is Near Bobbi. Get used to it!”
With those final words, Dan stands to his feet. He places his hands in the pockets of his jacket and makes his way towards the merry-go-round. He stands there as he watches his son continue his journey around and around. Dan takes a seat next to him as the unknown person spins the merry-go-round around. The scene slowly fades out to darkness.
Accidents are always bound to happen. They are everywhere in the world. When you least expect it, an accident will show up at your doorstep. They can be good or bad. The most accidents occur when someone is behind the wheel. In the case of Dangerous Dan, this is no exception. We begin our scene at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville, TN. The setting is two days since the news of Madyson’s accident. The room where Madyson is located is 15. She appears hooked up to several IV’s, and a heart monitor beeping next to her. Seated in chairs by her bedside are both Dangerous Dan and Crazy Chris. Dan is seated with his head between his hands. He raises his head and brushes his hair back with his hands. Chris, meanwhile, is located to her right side. He sits in the chair looking on his laptop. Dan stares up at the news program on the television. He turns towards Madyson and speaks.
“I can’t believe this has happened to our family. We should have been there. We shouldn’t have left her.”
Chris stops browsing on his computer and addresses his brother.
“You wouldn’t have been able to control it Dan. This was bound to happen regardless if we had been there or not. As the officer said, the car had come out of nowhere. She, nor you, would have seen it coming.”
“I guess you’re right. But I still feel like there is something we could have done.”
“We may have been in the same boat as her. As harsh as that sounds. We were lucky enough to have gone to church. Madyson would tell you the same thing herself.”
Dan reaches down and grabs Madyson’s hand. He clutches her palm into his. He leans over and lays his head on her chest.
“I know you can hear me Madyson. I’m going to find out who did this to you. Whoever this person is will pay. I’m going to make sure of it. No one hits and runs on my sister. I WILL find this person if it takes me the rest of my life.”
Dan raises his head and places it next to Madyson’s ear.
“I promise you that, sis.”
He kisses Madyson on the forehead and returns to his seat.
“Let me see that police report again.”
Chris reaches into a backpack next to his chair. He pulls out a piece of paper and hands it to Dan. Dan takes the paper, opens it up and begins reading. He glances over the paper.
“It says here that a witness claims a 2012 white Sedan pulled out and hit her on the driver’s side, before speeding off. He then proceeded west, running a red light before disappearing.”
Dan continues reading over the report, seemingly trying to figure out who could have done this. He begins asking question to himself.
“Who do I know that drives a white 2012 Sedan?”
“You’re going to drive yourself crazy trying to figure that out.”
“Are you not the least bit concerned about what happened to yours sister, Chris?”
Chris’ face turns red as anger releases in his tone.
“Of course I’m concerned about Madyson! Why the hell wouldn’t I be?!
“You certainly don’t seem to act it!”
“I’m dealing with our sister being in a coma different than you are Dan. Sorry if I’m not as soft as you.”
Dan leans back in his chair, rubbing his hands across his face.
“I’m sorry bro. I’m just pissed that someone did this to her.”
"I’m pissed too Dan, but right now there’s nothing we can do but sit here and wait for her condition to change. Tomorrow is a new day. We can start after work Monday on solving this case. Until then…be patient and lets care for our sister.”
“Yeah. You’re right.”
With those final words, Chris continues staring at his computer screen, while Dan stares up at the television set. Fade…to…
