Schenley Plaza
Pittsburgh, PA
Attendence: 502
Smith: “Charming Schenley Plaza, the entrance to the beautiful and historic Schenley Park located here in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. This fantastic setting is loaded with history. As you can see behind me are just some of the landmarks of this charming area such as the University of Pittsburgh's Cathedral of Learning and the Dippy Sculpture!
The shot is focused on Smith as he sits at an OCW table at ringside. His sporting his trademark glasses and of course a nifty headset to call the show. Behind him are indeed some of the famous landmarks that Smith has mentioned. The Dippy Sculpture is a really neat dinosaur statue. Rawr! We also get a view of the ring area. There's roughly 500+ fans ringside holding various signs and cheering. In the background we see a small stage set for the wrestlers. We also see the famous Schenley Plaza carousel in the background operating in all its glory with lights and music.
Smith: “Welcome to this special Internet broadcast of an OCW house show. Thus far the night has been filled with various OCW wrestlers coming out to talk with the fans. We were also treated to some local wrestlers showcasing the talent that this area has been known to produce. And there's more on the way tonight folks, but before we get to our main event, we have some entertaining footage courtesy of Awe.Some...”
We arrived inside Ricky and Randy's living room which has become the staple scene of Common.Tary With Awe.Some. Ricky and Randy are both sitting on their couch, stuffing their faces with Chinese food when the sound of a Skype call-in is heard coming from Ricky's laptop. He puts down the container and reaches for the laptop on the coffee table.
Ricky Valdez: "Alright folks here's some bonus footage for ya! We wanted to get this interview in on our streaming show but were pressed for time. Instead we got a treat for you guys right here on OCW's latest webshow. We're going to sit down with Bob Grenier, OCW's lovable bong totting Canadian warrior, to ask him the tough questions about OCW. Sure, he could do this interview with Smith or Hood, but neither one of those two guys will bring their A-game to Bob the way Awe.Some will."
Randy Valdez: "He's Bob Grenier, he's taking on Chad Vargas at Revenge on February 28th and as if that weren't enough, after he beats Chad Vargas he'll then move on to face Mack O'Connor for the OCW World Heavyweight Championship. Oh, by the way Ricky, that's all going down in the same night."
Ricky Valdez: "OCW's Iron Man might be another nickname tacked onto him by the time February comes to a close. Bob welcome!"
We go split screen here with Awe.Some on one side and the streaming video feed of Bob Grenier on the other.
Randy Valdez: "Now Bob we promised Dean we wouldn't pull any punches with you here. Ricky and myself are coming at you with the tough questions that are on everybody's mind. So Bob, tell us, who is your favorite Eddie Murphy character?"
Bob Grenier: "Thurgood Orenthal Stubbs, The PJ's was a fantastic series, Leave it up to the choads at WB to cancel it."
Ricky Valdez: "Wow I never would've had him pegged as a fan of the PJs."
Randy Valdez: "He carries a bong with him Ricky. He's all about the cartoons."
Ricky Valdez: "Bob, once and for all, how do you pronounce your last name?"
Bob Grenier: "It's GREN-YAY and after Revenge on February 28th 2015, Everyone walking the face of this earth will know it."
Ricky Valdez: "What's the deal with the wild animal stuff?"
Bob Grenier: "Bob Grenier fears no man or animal. I live in Northern Ontario and have murdered a grizzly bear with nothing but my hands. I once walked into a Zoo in New York and went toe to toe with a Bengal Tiger, I'm still here and I'm unstoppable.."
Randy Valdez: "Geez. The most Chad's probably gone up against is his pig."
Ricky Valdez: "You really think Chad would have a pig?"
Randy Valdez: "Yeah. Isn't it obvious he would have a pig?"
Ricky Valdez: "Strangest animal you've tangled with Bob?"
Bob Grenier: "That would be the Sheep I maimed on an episode of Monday Night Massacre. PETA was furious, I got plenty of hate mail for that one. It can all be found in the OCW Archives."
Randy Valdez: "It's the middle of the night. You and your significant other are fast asleep in your bed when suddenly the bedroom door is thrown open and in walks a giraffe. How do you take him out?"
Bob Grenier: "I wrap my hands around that fuckers neck and choke him unconscious. No harm no foul. I might even give him the old HPH for good measure, Nobody interrupts my sleep."
Randy Valdez: "Man this dude doesn't play around with his sleep that's for sure. Bob you're from Ontario, Canada, a province whose official language is English. Yet your nickname is French. What's the story behind that?"
Bob Grenier: "I'm from Northern Ontario, Northern Ontario constitutes 87% of the land area of Ontario, but only 6% of the population. The mining boom of the 20th century attracted many francophones the northern parts of Canada. It's from these descendants the world was blessed with the presence of Bob Grenier. For centuries the Grenier bloodline in Northern Ontario has remained as pure as the driven snow. The Northern part of Canada is still predominately French Speaking, and "L'excellence" is just one of the nicknames I've been blessed with, In Hawaii they call me Lopaka, In the Bouvet islands where I once ran a sex colony they called me "Whore Master" and from time to time I've been know to refer to myself as THE GREATEST MAN ALIVE."
Randy Valdez: "LOPAKA! I love it!"
Ricky Valdez: "You and Chad Vargas have quite a bit of history together so it's safe to assume that this won't be your first rodeo. Alice stole our thunder with this, but just how many rodeos have you been to?"
Bob Grenier: "Too many to fuckin count... Total Demolition, We battled PerZag and Richard for the Internet Title, Clash at the Coast, Scott Syren vs Bob Grenier vs Chad Vargas, Western Title Match. That one is a goddamn classic. Last Man Standing. We were once tag team partners known as "The Southsiders" under the guidance of Treat Cassidy, We were pretty good too, It lasted about 2 weeks. He referee's my match, and attacks me in the process. I referee his match and do the same. This guy blasted me with a chair one night about 2 weeks later and delivered the Stroke, Making his return. He then proceeds to throw me off the top of the legendary Green Monster in Fenway Park, 337 Feet I fell. Then as you all saw just a week ago, I had a glass bong smashed over my head and my skull almost crushed by 3 chairs.. It goes round and round with Grenier and Vargas and it will finally end on February 28th 2015.
Ricky Valdez: "You walk into a Piggly Wiggly and you look inside Chad's basket. What do you think you'd find?"
Bob Grenier: "Beer and Xanax ! I'm 99.9 % sure Vargas is a raging alcoholic with anger issues."
Ricky Valdez: "Something tells me you're probably more right than wrong with that hunch. Now Mack O'Connor hasn't really done a whole lot of anything since OCW has re-emerged. Is there anything, and I mean ANYTHING, that you can tell me that will make me interested in watching him?"
Bob Grenier: "He's wrestling me. Even in defeat, I will make him look like a million bucks. Mack doesn't offer much in the way of wrestling ability, ring sense, athleticism or good looks, I quite frankly don't know how he is OCW Champion, but I'll correct that travesty come Revenge."
Randy Valdez: "He's Bob Grenier, the man looking to make history at Revenge by not only winning one match, but two matches in the same night to become OCW World Heavyweight Champion. Bob thanks for taking the time to make us laugh and clap our hands."
Ricky Valdez: "Thanks Bob. Good luck at Revenge."
We return to Smith on the OCW house show broadcast.
Smith: "Bob Grenier with some pretty interesting words for not just Chad Vargas, but Mack O'Connor as well. You can't help but be excited for Revenge where Bob Grenier is looking to win the OCW title. You gotta wonder if Mack O'Connor might be feeling overlooked here as he is the current and defending champion. But we'll have to wait to see these men in the ring. Don't fret though, because we do still have a fantastic main event coming at you tonight... and that match is going to happen right now.”
The opening guitar rift of "Kickstart My Heart" roars through the speakers around ringside as the fans get to their feet. The lights on the stage set pan slowly towards the entrance way, but there is nobody there...
Rachel Valdez: "This is Awe.Some!"
The voice of Rachel Valdez is heard clearly over the speakers. Fans look around trying to find Awe.Some when someone in the crowd points at the carousel. Rachel is riding on the carousel's horse, Ricky is on an airplane, and Randy is riding in a race car. The fans all pop wildly for this.
Nameless Announcer: “Ladies and gentleman, it's time for the main event of the evening. Making his way to the ring from Reynosa, Mexico by way of McAllen, TX, he is one half of Awe.Some... Ricky Valdez!”
At that point with the song kicking into gear, Ricky and Randy Valdez both hop off the ride and run straight to the ring, slapping the hands of fans along the way. Rachel Valdez follows closely behind. The three of them all slide under the bottom rope. Ricky and Randy proceed to climb the turnbuckles on opposite sides of the ring. The brothers point to various sections of the crowd to get them excited while Rachel Valdez leans over the top rope to blow a kiss to the fans at ringside.
Smith: “What an entrance by OCW's popular tag team!”
Rachel and Randy exit the ring as Ricky soaks up the crowd. Randy makes his way to the commentary table, picks up the spare headset, and sits down.
Randy Valdez: “What is crack-a-lackin' Smith?”
Smith: “Welcome to the booth Randy.”
The fans around ringside give a huge cheer as the scream of “This Calling” hits the sound system. Everyone at ringside turns and gives out a loud pop as Ashe Dawson emerges from the curtain on the stage set.
Nameless Announcer: “And from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania!”
Another huge pop from the fans!
Nameless Announcer: He is known as the Strong Style Gaijin... This is Ashe Dawson!
The chorus of Ashe's music is in full swing as he makes his way to the ring, slapping the hands of fans on the way. He climbs the steps at ringside and pauses before stepping into the ring so that he can look around the crowd that's on their feet. He gives them a thumbs up and then steps between the ropes.
Smith: “Huge ovation for the hometown talent here with Ashe Dawson.”
Randy Valdez: “He certainly has the backing of Pittsburgh that's for sure!”
Ashe's music fades away and the bell is rung.
Ding, ding, ding!
Let's go Ashe!
Let's go Ashe!
Ashe and Ricky both meet in the center of the ring and give one another a strong fist bump. This draws another cheer from the crowd.
Smith: “Strong show of respect here tonight between these two men. That's interesting considering the two vastly different approaches to the business.”
Randy Valdez: “Well we know that Ashe is all about that action in the ring, but I'm sure he expects Ricky to provide him with a challenge. It's a show of respect for skill Smith. Once that bell rings, it's about the wrestling.”
The two wrestlers one another in the ring as the dual chants continue. Ashe and Ricky slowly approach one another with their hands reached out and lock up. Ricky slips behind Ashe and hooks his arms around Ashe's waist. Ashe reverses and does the same to Ricky. Ricky reverses and is back behind Ashe, who then proceeds to push Ashe to the ropes.
Randy Valdez: “Pace picking up here!”
Ricky then tries to pull Ashe away but Ashe hooks the ropes, sending Ricky tumbling backwards. Ashe turns around and runs towards Ricky with a clothesline. Ricky ducks. Ashe tries a leg sweep and Ricky jumps over the move. Ricky tries a kick to the side but Ashe blocks. Ricky tries a second kick but Ashe also blocks. Ricky tries a spinning roundhouse kick but Ashe quickly rolls out of the way. Both wrestlers are now crouched in the ring as the crowd applauds the exchange.
Let's go Ashe!
Smith: “Crowd loving the exchange between these two distinctly different wrestlers.”
Both wrestlers once again approach one another slowly to prepare to lock up as the dual chants continue. They do lock hands and Ashe immediately slips behind Ricky and locks in an abdominal stretch.
Smith: “There's the technical sense of Dawson coming out. The Lost Soul will likely see plenty of this when him and Ashe face one another for the Ascension Title at Revenge in two weeks from now.”
The referee is asking Ricky if he's ready to submit, but Ricky won't have it. Ashe ups the pressure on Ricky's back after a few questions from the referee to submit. Some of the crowd begins to clap and Ricky hits Ashe in the ribs with his free elbow. Ashe staggers but keeps the hold. Another elbow to the ribs from Ricky and he's now free. Ricky immediately turns around and delivers a side kick to the ribs of Ashe. Ashe stumbles back. Ricky runs to the ropes then runs back at Ashe and delivers a full speed dropkick. Ashe goes tumbling between the ropes and hits the mats at ringside. Ricky stands up and heads back to the ropes again. As Ashe stands up at ringside, Ricky comes flying over the top rope with a diving crossbody!
Chants of holy shit fill the area.
Randy Valdez: “This might be Ashe's stomping grounds, but these people love the excitement Awe.Some brings to the ring.”
Smith: “The risk pays off there for Ricky.”
The ref begins to count.
1...
2...
Smith: “So what's the deal with Tatum Coe and Awe.Some?”
Randy Valdez: “Funny you ask that. Basically Rachel sent a tweet about him and he took it way too personally.”
3...
4...
Randy Valdez: “He crashed an OCW fan event a few weeks ago and that didn't turn out so good for him. For all his money, he should go buy himself some common sense.”
Ricky is up to his feet.
5...
6...
Randy Valdez: “I'll tell you this Smith. If he ever comes near Rachel again, I'll personally break his hands.”
Ricky gets Ashe to his feet.
7...
Ricky rolls Ashe into the ring and follows.
As Ashe is about to get to his feet, Ricky comes behind and locks in a sleeper hold.
Randy Valdez: “Hey look at that! Ricky's been watching some tapes of Ashe!”
Smith: “Ricky with a sleeper hold. You have to wonder if the impact of the outside exchange could have drained Ashe.”
The ref is now asking Ashe to submit, but Ashe doesn't even acknowledge the referee's questions. The ref continues to ask despite the fact that Ashe is slowly starting to slump over. Ashe drops to one knee. The ref lifts Ashe's arm and releases as Ricky keeps the hold going strong. Ashe's arm drops. The ref repeats and once again Ashe's arm drops.
Smith: “It's not looking good here for Dawson...”
The ref tries a third time, but when he releases, Ashe's arm remains firmly in the air! A portion of the crowd is now beginning to clap for Ashe and he begins to feed off their energy.
Smith: “Dawson now trying to fight it off!”
Now back on his feet, Ashe maneuvers Ricky's positioning then retreats with tremendous power towards the corner of the ring, driving Ricky backfirst into the turnbuckles. Ricky let's out a grunt of pain and releases the hold. With a large portion of the crowd fully behind him now, Ashe keeps Ricky pinned against the turnbuckle and delivers some reverse elbows of his own to the neck and head area of Ricky. Ashe turns around and lets Ricky stumble out of the corner slightly before delivering a drop toehold. Ashe then locks a half Boston crab on Ricky as the crowd applauds.
Ricky is shouting in clear pain and the crowd anticipates a submission here. But Ricky is able to get his hand on the rope and the referee informs Ashe that he must release the hold.
Randy Valdez: “Ricky's in-ring awareness is probably underrated, Smith. The dude is plenty smart when it comes to positioning.”
Ashe stands up and shows some frustration by slapping the top of the rope. Before Ricky can get off the mat, Ashe delivers a elbow drop to Ricky's head. Back on the ground, Ashe delivers a few open palm strikes to Ricky's head. He then drags Ricky to his feet and irish whips him to the opposite turnbuckles. Ricky smacks into the turnbuckles and Ashe calls for the crowd to get behind him.
Smith: “This could be devastating for Ricky.”
He charges towards Ricky, but Ricky slips through the ropes to just in the nick of time. Ashe's chest smacks into the turnbuckle and the crowd quickly dies down. Ricky hastily climbs the turnbuckle as Ashe hunches over in the ring, clutching his chest. As Ashe regains his strength to stand straight up, Ricky jumps from the top rope and connects with a hurricarana! Rachel and the crowd explode in cheers of approval.
Randy Valdez: “Woohoo!”
The momentum of the move sends both men to opposite sides of the ring. Ashe stands up and leans on the ropes for support. Ricky sees his opening, gives a big smile, and begins to charge towards Ashe. Ashe reverses by flipping Ricky to the outside, but Ricky lands on the tarp on the edge of the ring. Ash turns and Ricky nails him with a shoulder to the stomach between the ropes. Ricky then flips back into the ring over Ashe for a rollup.
1!
2!
Kickout!
Ashe and Ricky spill away from one another. Ricky walks over and picks Ashe to his feet. He tries to bodyslam Ashe, but Ashe counters and nails an neckbreaker out of nowhere! Ashe attempts a pin.
1!
2!
3-Kickout by Ricky!
Smith: “The action has really picked up here between these two. Exchange after exchange.”
Both men showing a bit of exhaustion here as Ashe is wiping some sweat from his forehead. Ashe stands up and drags Ricky to his feet along with him. Ashe pushes Ricky to the ropes and irish whips him to the other side of the ring. On his way back, Ashe attempts a clothesline but Ricky ducks. Ashe tries another clothesline on the rebound but once again Ricky ducks! On the third rebound...
Randy Valdez: “This could be it for Ashe!”
Ricky leaps onto the second rope and springs back first towards Ashe. Ricky tries to get a hold of Ashe's head, but Ashe blocks it causing Ricky's back to crash hard to the mat. Ashe sees his opportunity, grabs Ricky's legs, and locks in the Lucky 13!
Randy Valdez: “Aw shit!”
The crowd is cheering as Ashe falls back to the mat, fully synching in the hold. Ricky shouts in clear pain as the ref asks Ricky if he's ready to submit. The crowd is split between chants of tap and chants for Ricky to free himself.
Ricky tries reaching for the bottom rope closest to him, but after a few seconds, the pain becomes too much and he taps. Ashe releases the hold as “This Calling” plays throughout the ring area.
Nameless Ring Announcer: "Here is your winner... Ashe Dawson!"
Ashe rolls away from Ricky as Ricky appears to be laughing at himself. Ricky sits up, rubbing his knee, and is laughing while shaking his head. Ashe is also chuckling to himself and he taps his temple with his finger. Ricky sees this gesture and gives Ashe a thumbs up.
Smith: “Looks like Ashe is saying he scouted Ricky out. Smart move by the man who held numerous titles in Japan.
Randy Valdez: “Look at Ricky! Haha! He didn't see it coming. I admit that was damn nice. Congrats to Ashe.”
Ashe extends his hand to Ricky and lifts him to his feet. Ricky then grabs ahold of Ashe's wrist and thrust it into the air. Both men point at one another in a show of sportsmanship as the crowd gives the men a standing ovation along with Rachel Valdez at ringside. Ricky gives Ashe a fist bump and congratulates him before exiting the ring.
Randy removes his headset and leaves the table. As Awe.Some makes their way to the back, the crowd is asking for Ashe to speak. Ashe is handed a microphone from a ringside worker.
Dawson: “Before I say what I want to say, Ricky Valdez that is the kind of match I expect here in OCW. People like you and I do not need weird gimmicks or scripted stories to have a great match. After Revenge I will be the OCW Ascension Champion and then I will be rocketing to the main event in no time. I do not care who the World Champion is after Revenge just know that I am here to win that belt and make you all "Stay Down"!”
Smith: “How about that folks! Some fiery words there from Ashe Dawson. You gotta imagine he was referring to The Lost Soul when he talks about weird gimmicks. Can't imagine The Lost Soul will take too kindly to Ashe proclaiming victory so soon. Meanwhile Ricky will have to shake it off as Awe.Some looks to defeat ItsuPuma to become the newest tag champions in Online Championship Wrestling. The tag titles will be contested in Climb The Rope match that will surely have people talking once it's said and done."
Ashe leaves the ring and slaps some hands with the fans on his way towards the back. The crowd gives Ashe a final cheer and the camera swings back to focus on Smith at the commentary table.
Smith: “Ashe now with some serious momentum heading into the Ascension title match.
